Today we’d like to introduce you to Morie Williams
Hi Morie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Growing up in San Jose, CA. Morie fell in love with junior theatre through San Jose Children’s Musical Theatre ( SJCMT). Through productions at SJCMT, Lincoln School of Performing Arts and community theatre he learned how to sharpen his skills and get jobs within the entertainment industry. After graduating high school Morie was hired to join the entertainment family at Disneyland CA. While at the happiest place on earth he got the chance to sing and dance all over the park in their bigger than life parades and production shows. While working for the Walt Disney Company Morie began to yearn to visit some of the far off lands a lot of guest visiting the park were from. After auditioning for and being hired by Carnival Cruise Lines he set sail and got to dance at sea. Since then he has performed his way across seven continents and hundreds of countries. Between his contracts Williams would often present workshops providing arts education and mentoring for youth in need. Through these workshops T3 Triple Threat Youth Mentors (T3) was born. In 2013 T3 began operating year round, providing classes, workshops or full musical productions. Located in North Park, one of his biggest joys has always been making these programs more accessible both financially and socially for kids that might be growing up like he did; loving theatre- but not always having the means to cover tuition. Then then T3 has been able to help hundreds of kids some of them still performing today.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
