Check out Moses Morales’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Moses Morales.

Moses, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
Dang! Where do I even begin? I was not expecting to be asked to tell my story this early on in the interview, but since you’re asking! *casually pulls out autobiography*

I was born in Downey, CA, and have lived in Santa Fe Springs, CA my entire life. If you don’t know where Santa Fe Springs is, it’s near Whittier and if you don’t know where Whittier is let’s just say LA County. Growing up I was (and still am) energetic, creative and eager to learn. The environments I was exposed to both at home and in school really gave me space to be myself and express myself which really molded me to not put up a front about who I am.

When I was in kindergarten, I discovered I wanted to be an actor. It happened accidentally though which is kinda funny! But when I look back on the scenario I wonder, was it really an accident?… Anyway! My mom put me in a school that offered a program called Dual Immersion, so 90% of my class was taught in Spanish and English is my first language. So when my teacher asked us who wanted to play Joseph in the Nativity Story, I just raised my hand. I don’t know if I just did not understand or if I just was not paying attention but either way I volunteered and got the part. — That entire experience really set the stage (no pun intended) for the rest of my life.

Fast forward twenty years later and I still do not understand things when I volunteer for them…just kidding!
But in all seriousness, I still have a desire to act and now even to direct, write and produce films which makes total sense because when I was seven years old, I forced my family and neighbors to watch a Lilo & Stitch-inspired show that I put together with my cousin and friends in my front yard.

Right now, I can say I am really focused on maturing, not aging, but maturing. Being more responsible, preparing for the future and stepping deeper into manhood, not fighting it.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
Once again, my art is acting! I wish I could say in the past that I consistently created videos like I wanted to, but that is not the case; however, I would say that the way I create is through videos and it really was not until the last year or so that I have put things into action. In all honesty, I can be doing more than I already am, but previously I would talk myself out of making a video with excuses like “it’s not the right time” or “I need better production quality” yadda yadda yadda. But right now, I’m just going for it!

I also really enjoy marketing and branding. That is a field I want to work in as well after I star in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of course!

The last few skits I’ve posted were all filmed and edited on my iPhone and in all honesty have gotten way more engagements on my Instagram than the interview’s I have done with celebrities which had way better production quality and now that I’m talking about it, I believe it’s because the skits resonate more with my personality than the interviews do.

I make these videos because I love acting and telling stories but also because I live in a time where I can whip something up, post it and immediately get a response not just from friends and family but potentially the entire world. So there’s that knowing of having an audience in the palm of your hand 24/7. Like it would be stupid to not create content and as you can tell from the beginning of my answer to this question I was being pretty stupid before by not posting anything!!

I want people to elicit emotions in my audience. When they experience the content, I produce (whether it’s a movie or a song) and get that same sense of awe and wonder that I get when I watch a movie, read a good book or listen to my favorite songs. — It’s that feeling that causes our scope of possibilities to widen. That feeling where every limit melts away and suddenly you believe anything is possible. That is what I want my audience to feel.

And also, I’ll finish with this; I want to show people how to take responsibility for their actions. I want them to know that where they are (or aren’t) in life is a result of their choices and if they have these grandiose dreams for their future they have a personal responsibility to step out in faith and make it happen not to sit around and wait for it to happen. Your faith (dreams, goals, desires) is dead when it is not put into action.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
Negative strongholds!! — Mentalities that try to limit them.
“You can’t do it.” “You’re not good enough.” “Why even try.” “People have already seen that.” etc. etc. etc.

Those are lies from the devil! Like I said previously, your faith is dead without works.

The hardest step is sometimes the first. Just make your art and share it. Nobody is stopping you; the devil is defeated so he can’t stop you and so you should not be stopping you either.

Once you breakthrough those strongholds there is no stopping you.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Pretty much everything I create will be posted on all of my social media pages. I have a YouTube Channel, Instagram, etc.

I would like people to support my work by watching or listening to it of course (subscribing to my channel lol) and sharing it with people in their circle. I don’t expect everything I make to be liked, which I knew right off the top would not be the case and have even experienced it in the comment section of some of my videos but hey! The video is uploaded, and once it’s up, it’s up.

Eventually, you will see my work on Netflix and in theaters, and you can support those projects by watching them as well.
