Check Out Aaron Gillis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Gillis.

Hi Aaron, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The Smoker was created over the pandemic as a way to challenge myself to achieve more. I’ve always had ambitions of becoming a personal chef or even owning a restaurant and saw this as an opportunity to learn. I bought a smoked and went to my friends and family for brainstorming.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh man, it’s been anything other than smooth. There have been days that made me feel like I’m choosing a hobby and not a future. The biggest struggle with becoming a business owner and learning on the way has been all mental. With mental focus and strength drives you to push to your goals and dreams. It’s taught me that growth isn’t supposed to be comfortable or a smooth road.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a personal chef who specializes in gourmet smoked and bbq foods. I love cooking birthdays and anniversaries. Being a part of a celebration always feels that much more special. I’m most known for the somewhat crazy edible creations that I come up with. Also to most, I’m known for the most comfortable clothing line in San Diego, “StayHungry”. Shortly after creating “The Smoker”, I started a clothing line, “StayHungry”. A message for everyone who sees or wears the clothes. It’s a mindset that tells you to keep going, never quitting, or forever grow. It’s a line that is suitable for all genders and ages from all walks of life. I think what’s sets me apart from others is my mind and my never quitting, “energizer bunny drive”.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I truly feel like risk taking is a part of growing and never staying stagnant in life. Without risk or taking leaps then you’d never see how far you can truly push yourself, how far your breaking point really is. I took a risk by starting my own business during the pandemic, it gets tough but I get up daily with the mindset to never let any failure stop my drive.
