Check Out Anna Reynolds’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Anna Reynolds.

Anna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Photography (specifically film photography) was always a hobby and something I thoroughly enjoyed. It wasn’t until after working for three years for a corporate company that I realized I wanted to work for myself, creating intentional brand imagery for other brands and business owners.

I landed my first brand client within three months of buying my first professional camera and grew my business to my full-time job. In October of 2020, I was able to quit my other job, and I’ve been photographing and serving California lifestyle brands ever since.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
For the most part, gaining traction in my business happened pretty naturally. Inevitably, I’ll hit slower seasons here and there, but so many clients are loyal to my services and continue to come back and hire me for their next campaign or brand shoot. I’m beyond thankful for all the opportunities that keep me busy, and I wouldn’t be here without my amazing clients, who continue to trust me with their brand imagery.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in creating nostalgic, intentional imagery for lifestyle brands. Most of my inspiration comes from flipping through old-school photography books, vintage California lifestyle magazines and shooting on old film cameras (both 35mm and 120 film).

I’d say adding a nostalgic flare with film photography is definitely something that sets me apart and brings a unique aspect to my work.

My favorite part about what I do is working with each brand in a personalized way. The planning process of learning what they need and then providing my services in a way that serves them in a unique way is something I am so passionate about.

I mainly serve brands in Southern California, but I’m always open to travel!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
There are always going to be others who are just a few steps ahead of you, and it’s so important to find that community of other people who do what you do and continue to learn from them. However, sometimes it can be easy to get stuck in that place of relying on “experts” – I think the most important thing someone can do is to learn from their own experiences and go through seasons of trial and error. Anytime something didn’t go exactly as expected in my business, I used that as an opportunity to refine how I serve my clients in an even better way.
