Today we’d like to introduce you to Built on Truth Podcast Hosted by Brett Wheeless.
Built on Truth Podcast, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
For me, it really started with two things that have always shaped my life — my Christian faith and my belief in the value of strength, both physically and spiritually. I’ve worked in the fitness industry for years, coaching men to build stronger, more capable bodies so they can live full lives — in the mountains, on the field, with their families.
This world is dark and the internet hunts for men like it never has before. Also everything is so canned, so staged and rehearsed, there’s rarely any real, unfiltered stories. Everyday conversations with regular guys,
so many of them were hungry for something beyond physical training — for clarity, for purpose, for truth in a world that increasingly pushes men to compromise or drift. That’s really where Built on Truth was born.
I started the podcast as a way to have honest conversations about Biblical truth, strength, leadership, and the kind of legacy we want to leave. I bring on guests — pastors, athletes, entrepreneurs, everyday men of faith — and we talk about what it really looks like to build a life that stands firm. The conversations are real men, answering with wisdom.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road — and I don’t think it’s supposed to be.
Starting Built on Truth was honestly a leap of faith. I didn’t have a media background. I’m a strength coach — I’m used to building people, not podcasts. So everything from recording to editing to getting guests — it was all new. I made a lot of mistakes early on. Thankfully God gifted me with incredible men and allies to help me along the way, we would not be growing the way we are without their help.
Beyond the technical side, the bigger challenge has been cutting through the noise. There are so many voices out there — and so much content that’s surface-level or watered down. I didn’t want that. I wanted Built on Truth to be something that would actually sharpen men, challenge them, and point them to what matters. Staying true to that vision — and not just chasing clicks or easy topics — has required patience and conviction.
But through it all, the Lord has been faithful. The podcast is growing, the conversations are deepening, and I’m seeing real fruit — that makes every struggle worth it.”
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
At the core of everything I do — whether it’s in the gym or on the podcast — I help men build strong, capable lives grounded in Biblical truth.
I run Wheeless Fitness, where I train a lot of high-level, driven men — executives, athletes, outdoorsmen — who want to stay pain-free, strong, and athletic as they age. It’s not about vanity or performance for performance’s sake. It’s about training so you can show up strong for your family, your calling, and the life you’re meant to live.
Out of that came Built on Truth, the podcast. That’s where I create space for deeper conversations — about Biblical manhood, leadership, legacy, and discipline. We bring on guests who have lived something worth listening to — men of faith who have faced real challenges and stayed anchored.
I’m most proud of the impact both sides of that work are having. I’ve seen clients overcome pain, regain strength, and get back to doing the things they love — skiing, surfing, hunting, leading their families well. And we’ve had men reach out after listening to an episode saying it helped them reset their priorities and get back on track spiritually and as leaders.
What sets us apart? I think it’s a relentless focus on substance over trends. Also consistency over complacency. We don’t do gimmicks in the gym, and we don’t do fluff on the podcast. Everything is built on proven principles — physically, mentally, spiritually. And everything is aimed at helping men live strong, anchored, purposeful lives. That’s the mission.
How do you define success?
Success for me is earning the respect of the men I respect. That means living a life above reproach, being an incredible husband, and an ever present father. A reputation that is above board. People won’t like me for what I believe, that is inevitable. But having a reputation as a good man, and raising my boys to be great men, that to me is success.
