Check Out Chris Porter’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Porter.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Absolutely — here’s the story of **PoPolitickin**:

I started PoPolitickin back in the MySpace era, just a hip-hop head and student of the culture looking to create a platform where artists could speak their truth and fans could hear unfiltered conversations. It began as a blog and podcast focused on real rap, independent grind, and positivity — mixing the streets with intellect. The goal was always to elevate the culture, not exploit it.

Over the years, I’ve interviewed hundreds of artists — from up-and-comers to legends — and built a loyal following by staying authentic. No gimmicks, just real talk. As the digital landscape evolved, so did PoPolitickin — expanding into YouTube, mixtapes, music showcases, and the PoPolitickin Basketball League (PBL). Each move was organic, driven by passion and community.

Now, it’s a movement: for the culture, by the culture. And we’re just getting started.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but that’s part of the journey.

As **PoPolitickin**, I’ve had to wear a lot of hats — host, editor, promoter, designer, and everything in between. There were times when interviews would fall through, platforms wouldn’t show love, or algorithms would bury content. It’s tough building something real in an industry that often rewards flash over substance.

One of the biggest challenges was staying consistent when there wasn’t a big spotlight — grinding in silence, pushing out content, and trusting that the right people would find it. Balancing real life with this passion project wasn’t always easy either — but every setback taught me something.

What kept me going? The culture. The community. And knowing that even if I helped one artist get heard or inspired one fan to think deeper — it was worth it.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At **PoPolitickin**, I focus on spotlighting real stories in hip-hop and beyond — through interviews, podcast episodes, written content, and cultural events. I specialize in giving independent artists a platform to speak, unfiltered and authentic. It’s about real conversations, not clickbait.

I’m known for keeping it 100% organic. No industry puppeteering, no fake narratives. Just artists, thinkers, and creatives telling their truths. I’ve had the honor of interviewing legends, but I take just as much pride in breaking new talent. I also run the **PoPolitickin Basketball League (PBL)** — blending hoops, hip-hop, and hustle into a unique cultural experience.

What I’m most proud of is longevity. This didn’t pop overnight — it’s been built over years of consistency, growth, and love for the culture. What sets me apart is that I never chased trends — I stayed rooted in purpose. PoPolitickin isn’t just a brand, it’s a mindset.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
If you’re looking to work or collaborate with **PoPolitickin**, it’s simple — tap in with purpose.

Artists, podcasters, writers, brands — I’m always open to building with people who are passionate, authentic, and bring something real to the table. Whether it’s an interview, content collab, sponsorship, or feature — if it aligns with the culture and the vision, let’s talk.

You can support by following the platforms (YouTube, Instagram, Spotify, etc.), sharing the content, buying the merch, streaming the music, or just spreading the word. Every like, comment, and repost helps keep independent media alive.

Most importantly — stay connected, stay real. I’m here to build something that lasts.
