Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Merida.
Hi Christian, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Sueños actually started as a solo project, and I decided March of 2021 to have Aidan on drums and Julie on bass. Soon after added Diego to play rhythm guitar for us. We, later on, dropped our first self-titled Ep through Betamax Records on October of 2021. Fast forward to now Sueños consists of Nathan Collazo on bass, I’m on lead guitar and vocals, Ivy Forest Traylor on backing vocals and rhythm guitar, Fernando Aragon on rhythm guitar, and Diego Rojas on drums. We’ve had the pleasure to play with bands like Closed Tear, Wisteria, and Cold Gawd. These bands really help pave the way for us.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I can say for every band that it’s not gonna be a smooth road. We’ve had a good amount of lineup changes to our roster but this one is definitely a strong group of friends. We all have a similar goal and that’s to make awesome music and play shows.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I work at a dispensary. Both Diego and Fernando work in a warehouse setting. Ivy is more on the creative side doing graphic design work and a bunch of other stuff like website work. Lastly, our bassist Nate works in food. As for what sets us aside from others musically, I feel we all have different taste in music from one another. Helps keep things fresh when we’re creating new tracks.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I mean whenever a decision is being made, we collectively as a band make a decision so doesn’t really feel like a risk.
