Check Out Cody Reno Dylan Hishmeh’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Reno Dylan Hishmeh.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Tripsitters is a project that was born from friendship, shared passion, and a pretty surreal dream.

We met a few years before starting the duo, working together and bonding quickly over a love for dubstep, both the art of DJing and the process of music production. Even before Tripsitters was official, we were constantly collaborating while pursuing our solo paths. Dylan was playing club sets under the alias Ratchet, diving into DJ culture while honing his skills as a producer. Cody came from a background in metal, playing in and out of bands before shifting into electronic music with his solo project, JustCody.

During that time, we released a number of collabs with local collectives, and those tracks started gaining momentum in the scene. That success planted the seed: what if we combined forces full-time? But then the pandemic hit, and both of our solo careers hit pause.

It all came together during the EDC Virtual Rave-a-Thon. While watching sets, Cody told Dylan about a vivid dream he’d had the night before; two DJs on stage, masked and dressed in all black, throwing down a heavy dubstep set. The name in the dream? Tripsitters. That single moment of inspiration was enough. It felt right. We decided to make it real.

From that night forward, we became Tripsitters. We set our solo projects aside and threw everything we had into this new vision – focusing on the music, the brand, and creating an experience that was fully us.

Since then, we’ve released music through labels like LoFreq and Saturated Sound, along with self-released EPs, singles, and remixes. Our sound sits in the darker, heavier corners of bass music… gritty, deep, and intentionally strange. A Tripsitters set is a journey, and that’s what we aim to deliver every time: an experience that feels like you’re stepping into another world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Being a duo definitely comes with its own set of advantages and challenges. One of the biggest obstacles we’ve faced was when Cody moved to Arizona. We’ve been living in separate states for over two years now, and while that was a tough adjustment at first, it’s also been one of the most defining chapters of our journey.

Surprisingly, some of our biggest accomplishments have happened during this time apart. We’ve released some of our most successful tracks while working remotely, and even had one of our songs played by Alleycvt at Bonnaroo last year, which was a huge milestone for us.

The distance has really forced us to level up—prioritizing the group, improving our communication, and finding creative new ways to collaborate across state lines. We’ve now played shows in both California and Arizona, and despite the physical distance, we’ve continued to build momentum and grow our presence, especially in the San Diego scene.

It’s taught us that when the commitment is real, you find a way to make it work, and in our case, it’s made us even stronger.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We specialize in creating experimental bass music, blending elements of dubstep, trap, and drum and bass. While we stay rooted in the foundations of these genres, we are not afraid to break the rules. Over time, we have crafted a sound that is uniquely ours: dark, heavy, and intentionally off-center. Our music is built for sound system culture and thrives in underground and rave environments, where the energy is raw and immersive.

Every track we produce is designed with deep sub-bass and a haunting, almost spooky atmosphere. It is gritty, moody, and meant to make you feel something. We are most proud of how far we have come in shaping a style that stands out in such a saturated scene.

Our live sets are where everything comes to life. We often hear people say, “I have never heard anything like this before,” and that is exactly what we aim for. We want our performances to feel like a full experience, not just a set but a sonic journey that stays with you.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
We have some huge plans lined up for 2025 that we can’t wait to share, but for now we want to give a shoutout to some of the people who have been with us since the beginning. Big love to Subwreck, Larj, Yuxie, and the entire Saturated Sound crew for always holding it down and supporting our vision.

We just dropped a new track with Yuxie called Dark Waters as part of the Saturated Slaps Vol. 3 compilation, which is streaming on all platforms right now. Go check it out and stay tuned!
