Today we’d like to introduce you to Dan Williams aka Dubeats.
Dubeats, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I started my journey into house music production around 2008 and ramped things up a lot in 2012 when I started DJing and started the DuBeats project. In 2017, I relocated myself from Boston to San Diego and reunited with the rest of my Staybad crew here on the West Coast. I’ve steadily been releasing my music on underground record labels for the last seven years and have grown a nice lil’ portfolio of productions in this time!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not quite the easiest journey to this point in time, but I’m not complaining! As is the case with most things in life, music and art require considerable effort to be done right. The journey is always going to have its ups and downs, and all you can do is just enjoy the ride!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I think one thing that sets me apart from the pack is just being a jack-of-all-trades. I’m a house music producer, DJ, record label owner, event co-curator, and editor for the amazing blog Music is 4 Lovers. I pride myself on being deeply ingrained in all these different aspects of this music culture, and I definitely think it all beneficially comes together nicely.
How do you define success?
Being able to do what you love for a living!
