Check Out Daniel Gonzalez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Gonzalez.

Daniel, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was born in Mexico and came to the US in 1995. After my brother passed away, I decided to follow my heart of becoming a filmmaker, I was 39. I had 3 auto detailing shops, so I decided to close them down and keep a few customers that I would take care of doing mobile detail. That way I could work in my own time, while figuring out my new path. I know how to play piano and some other instruments, so I started as a film composer, then as screenwriter, producer and finally a movie director. The journey took me ten years. I have 4 kids so it was a complete juggle. I have produced 10 films, my first feature Premier at New York Gotham International film Festival. And just finished my latest feature film Be with Me.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth, but since I had so much passion, every obstacle was shaping me as an original filmmaker. I used to go to Barnes and Noble after work to read everything I could on filmmaking, since I didn’t have money to buy the books, I would just put a paper where I left off reading hoping the book will still be there the next day. Every day I would wake up at five and write or do whatever I was working on, before going detailing cars. When I finally made my first feature film, I told my kids that I made it while they were watching T.V. 🙂

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Produce films, specialize in writing, editing, music composing and Directing.
I’m known for the kind of films I make. I’m proud that I can make my own films with total creative control. What sets me apart it’s my style, my films more than plot driving, are visually poetic and very humanistic.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Doing what you love
