Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniella Holman.

Daniella Holman

Hi Daniella, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve always had a passion for capturing moments, ever since I was a kid. I was that person who strangers in public would ask to take their picture, probably because I looked like someone who would help them. While my initial dream was to become a pilot, and I even attended the Air Force Academy for a brief period, I quickly realized that it wasn’t the path for me.

Upon returning home to San Diego, I decided to move to Northern California to attend college with the aim of becoming a veterinarian. I worked as a vet tech in emergency and urgent care for a few years, driven by my love for animals. However, despite my passion for animal care, I still felt something was missing.

After some deep soul-searching and a heartfelt discussion with my parents, I decided to switch majors to Art Media and Digital Design. This decision reignited my creative spark. During this period, I also delved into the world of influencing, working with local San Diego companies like Ecoboat Rentals and San Diego Speedboats to create engaging content.

A few months ago, I picked up my camera again and started exploring the more advanced aspects of photography. It felt like coming home. My skills in social media marketing blended seamlessly with my newfound love for professional photography, allowing me to create a business that I truly love.

Today, I offer a wide range of photography services including couple shoots, portraits, maternity shoots, engagements, studio shoots, branding, and more. But what really brings me joy is animal photography. It’s amazing how my journey has come full circle, combining my love for animals with my passion for capturing beautiful moments. Here I am, creating magic with my camera and sharing it with the world.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is navigating the complexities of social media advertising. It often feels like a game of luck. The algorithms can be fickle and unpredictable. You can pour your heart and soul into creating something amazing over several weeks, only to have it garner just 200 views. Then, you can turn around and post something you threw together in five minutes, and it goes viral.

This unpredictability is frustrating and can be disheartening at times. Staying motivated and not letting these setbacks affect my creative process has been a real struggle. Despite these challenges, I continue to push forward, focusing on producing high-quality content and trusting that my dedication and passion will eventually pay off.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a photographer based in North County San Diego, and my work spans a wide range of subjects. I capture everything from love stories and portraits to the charm of fur babies. Additionally, I specialize in branding and content creation for businesses, helping them convey their unique stories through visual media.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the feedback I receive from my clients. Many have told me that I make them feel like they’re working with a close friend, creating a comfortable and relaxed environment. This comfort is crucial for capturing raw and genuine emotions in my photographs.

What sets me apart from others is my ability to build these relationships with my clients. By fostering a comfortable atmosphere, I’m able to capture moments that are not only beautiful but also authentic and heartfelt. This connection and trust are what I take the most pride in as a photographer.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is living a life with no regrets. I firmly believe that everything happens for a reason. This philosophy has guided me through various stages of my life and career, shaping who I am today.

Starting from my early dream of becoming a pilot, to my journey of studying veterinary science and working as a vet tech, each experience has contributed to my growth. Even when I realized those paths weren’t the right fit, I learned valuable lessons that have helped me in my current profession.

When I decided to switch paths again, it was a leap of faith. Yet, it led me to discover my true passion for photography. Picking up my camera again a few months ago felt like a natural progression, tying together my love for animals, my creative skills, and my knack for social media.

Living a life with no regrets means embracing every opportunity and challenge with an open heart. It means trusting that every step, even the missteps, have a purpose. As a photographer, this mindset helps me to see the beauty in every moment and to capture it in a way that is genuine and heartfelt. It’s about making every shot count and creating lasting memories for my clients, knowing that each click of the shutter is a reflection of my journey and the unique story of those I photograph.
