Today we’d like to introduce you to David Perez.
Hi David, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
So it all started about seven years ago when I had no clear direction of where my life was headed. Working pointless jobs that I hated, spending countless hours chasing meaningless things that had no foreseeable future. Just when I thought I wouldn’t make anything out of myself, I fell in love with the art of photography. It was like the moment I got my first camera, I knew that was it. I became obsessed with the process and the lifestyle that came with it. I struggled very hard in the beginning but as with any and everything, time and practice gets you where you want to end up. Fast forward a couple of years later and I find myself making not only a living from my craft but more in love with it now than ever. I particularly love to capture everyday life, I try to find beauty in ordinary things, my experiences, and the people around me
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would say the biggest struggles would be finding a style of my own and successfully being able to make a living doing something you love
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Like I said, I love to capture everyday life. There’s art and beauty in everything around us and I make it my mission to portray that in my images. Whether it be an experience I go on or just a walk down the street, I’m always looking for things that catch my eye and I try to create something different than what the regular eye would see.
What were you like growing up?
I was always somewhat of an introverted person growing up. I was very interested in sports my whole life and when that didn’t pan out for me, I felt pretty lost. It wasn’t until I found photography that I really knew what I wanted to do with my life.
