Check Out Farrah Mehdian’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Farrah Mehdian.

Farrah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Writing my feelings about how I started my journey in jewelry always makes me very emotional.  About 20 years ago, after My divorce from my 21-year-old marriage, I wanted so bad to be able to stand on my own two feet. I had such a passion and love for finding the perfect jewelry for myself, and I decided to expand and turn it into a Business!

The Turning point for my business was the day that an old lady walked up to me at one of my jewelry shows with a broken necklace. She asked me if I could repair it for her. I kindly told her I don’t do repairs because I don’t even know how, and I’ve never made a piece of jewelry in my life. She desperately asked me again to do it for her, and so I agreed to take the necklace and repair it for her.

I did a little research online and sure enough, was able to repair the necklace for her. I began to experiment with pieces and before I knew it I had a new love. Through helping her, I quickly realized that being able to fix and create pieces on my own that was my ultimate passion all along.

So now I have been creating all my own pieces for the past 15 years! I love being able to create beautiful pieces that are one of a kind. Seeing my work on my customers brings me the ultimate joy.

I love what I do and make each piece with love and great intention!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It’s been far from smooth. For every show, I had to travel all over every weekend. It took me all day to set up for the show and all day for a takedown. Every show usually took 3-5 days although I did some 12 day shows once a year and since I did it mostly by myself it was pretty hard but I loved every second of it!!

I stopped doing shows as of couple years ago and now sell to boutiques and online!

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love creating one of a kind statement pieces! Pieces that are unusual and funky, Pieces that bring out the goddess in each and every woman that chooses to wear it!

I have to say my jewelry is not for everyone but I definitely have a lot of clients that truly love and appreciate my work because I do this with the utmost passion and love!

What was your favorite childhood memory?
I grew up in Iran and moved here when I was only 13 years old. But my brightest and most favorite memories of my childhood are playing in the streets with the neighbors’ kids till dark without being afraid.

Our parents would get together almost every night for dinner and all I remember was laughter, love and happiness!!
