Today we’d like to introduce you to Gisela Rodriguez.
Hi Gisela, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been in the Hospitality world since I was born. My family and I own Hotel El Cortez in San Felipe Baja. California. I have always seen this place as magical, fun, peaceful and rejuvenating. I lived in the hotel for six months straight a couple of years ago to really focus on getting to know myself better and connect with who I really am at the core. It was a moment in my life where I was going through a lot of personal changes and facing challenges. After taking courses on self-love, reading personal growth books and growing closer to God, I realized that simplicity is key to living a fulfilling life. Waking up early, hearing the birds chirping, the sound of the waves, the warmth of the sand in my feet all made me want to invest more in experiencing this feeling daily no matter where I was. I finally had a conversation with my brother, who is also my best friend, and told him that I wanted to share this experience with others at the hotel and in San Diego, where I currently reside. With a lot of support from friends, mentors, family and also facing many fears, I hosted my first wellness retreat in Baja. From then on, I started meeting and collaborating with others who are in the Wellbeing space to create more events and workshops together in both Baja and San Diego.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My perspective on struggles has shifted ever since I embarked on this path. I see obstacles as a test to see ‘how bad I want’ what I am working towards. I have faced challenges in every way possible, but more than anything it has been a smooth road since I am doing something I love and consider myself an expert on the topic.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I currently work as a Front Desk Manager for a beautiful resort in San Diego, CA. I love doing anything and everything to create unforgettable experiences for both our guests and employees. It is my mission and motivation to inspire others by showing up as my best self every day. No two days are the same in the Hospitality world and I love that! I do my best to embrace adversity and spontaneity in both my professional and personal life.
I am also an Institute of Integrative Nutrition Holistic Health Coach and give 1-1 coaching and workshops. I absolutely love my clients and the breakthroughs we go through together. I am currently taking a course to become a Detoxification Counselor with Hayley Porter and another course on Gut Health through ‘IIN’ Very excited to apply and share these learnings on consults and in my personal life.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
I love learning from other people and their perspectives! I only follow inspirational people on Social Media that align with my values and goals. Some of them are: Lauryn Bosstick, Sara Blakely, Rich Roll, Elena Cardone and Mark Groves. When it comes to books, I have so many favorites, but my top 3 essentials are ‘The Daily Stoic’, ‘The Untethered Soul’ and ‘Awaken the Giant Within’.
