I’m Park, a tattoo artist based in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. I began learning tattooing in 2017 and now have 8 years of experience in the field. My path toward tattooing was profoundly shaped by the creative atmosphere fostered by my mother. From Disney animations to a wide array of sci-fi classics, this environment sparked my imagination and nurtured my artistic sense from a young age.
My tattooing style is characterized by cover-up and touch-up work, with proficiency in various styles like black and grey and micro-realism. I approach each piece with reverence, aiming not just for visual appeal but for designs that seamlessly harmonize with the body’s natural contours, creating timeless artworks. The most rewarding aspect of my work is the profound connection I forge with clients through art. Witnessing their initial dissatisfaction transform into joy and confidence is deeply gratifying.
Tattoo conventions have been enriching experiences for me, serving as gatherings of creativity where artists celebrate their shared passion. From the UK to Italy to Korea, I’ve had the privilege of attending and showcasing my work, fostering camaraderie within the tattoo community.
I vividly remember my first tattoo convention in Belfast, UK, where I won first place in the small black & grey category. This experience fueled my passion, leading me to participate in conventions worldwide, including the Rome Urban Tattoo Expo and the KOREA Tattoo INSPIRE, where I got awards.
Another one of my biggest accomplishments as a tattoo artist is being selected as a guest artist in esteemed tattoo shops across the world. This, along with accolades from prestigious conventions and sponsorships, validates my dedication to tattooing and inspires me to continue pushing artistic boundaries.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My journey hasn’t been entirely smooth, but each hurdle has shaped me into the tattoo artist I am today. One of the biggest struggles was losing my passion for drawing during my time at an animation high school. The pressure to conform to the Korean entrance exam system stifled my creativity, leading me to lose interest in drawing. This setback led me to pursue a career as a hair designer instead, although there was a sense that I wasn’t honoring my true passion for drawing.
It wasn’t until I encountered a Korean tattoo artist during my time in Canada that I rediscovered my love for art. Witnessing his work and experiencing the transformative power of tattoos reignited the fire within me, prompting me to pursue tattooing as a career.
Transitioning into tattooing wasn’t without its challenges. Returning to Korea to study tattooing meant stepping out of my comfort zone and starting anew in a completely different field. Yet, despite the uncertainties and obstacles, I persevered, fueled by a deep-seated passion for art.
Today, as I continue my journey as a tattoo artist, I am grateful for every twist and turn that has brought me to this point. While there may be challenges ahead, I am determined to stay true to my passion for drawing and tattoos, knowing that it is the driving force behind everything I do.

I’ve chosen to specialize in the black and grey style for its versatility and ability to create intricate shading and depth. However, my journey in tattooing has led me to explore various styles, including cover-ups and different geometric designs.
Rather than confining myself to strict artistic boundaries, I prefer to create tattoos that blend different influences and reflect the unique personality of each client. For me, tattoos are more than just art—they’re a means of connection and collaboration, allowing me to create something meaningful with each individual I work with.
Regarding cover-up tattoos, I’ve chosen to focus on this aspect of tattooing because I see it as a unique and challenging opportunity. Cover-ups require working over existing tattoos that clients may no longer like or want to change, adding an extra layer of complexity to the process.
In my approach to cover-up tattoos, I aim for a seamless transformation that not only conceals the existing tattoo but also enhances the natural features of the body. This process requires a deep understanding of both artistic principles and the technical aspects of tattooing.
When a client approaches me for a cover-up tattoo, I first assess the existing tattoo, considering its size, placement, and color. Understanding the characteristics of the old tattoo is crucial in determining the most effective approach for covering it up.
Next, I carefully select a design that not only masks the old tattoo but also complements the client’s body shape and contours. I consider factors such as the flow of the body’s lines and the muscle structure to ensure that the new design harmonizes with the natural form.
In terms of execution, precision is paramount. I pay close attention to detail, meticulously layering ink to achieve seamless coverage while maintaining depth and dimension. Techniques such as strategic shading and clever use of negative space help create a cohesive and visually appealing result.
Ultimately, my goal with cover-up tattoos is not just to hide a previous tattoo but to provide my clients with a new piece of art that they can be proud of. By combining technical skill with artistic vision, I strive to deliver cover-up tattoos that not only meet but exceed my client’s expectations, leaving them with a renewed sense of confidence and satisfaction.

My greatest fear is the possibility of losing my passion for drawing, especially when it comes to tattoos. Right now, I find so much joy and fulfillment in my work, genuinely loving every moment of creating tattoos. My dream is simple yet profound: to continue my journey as a tattoo artist with the same fire and passion for art and tattoos that burns within me today.
