Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Deehan.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Ever since I was a young girl, I dreamed of being my own boss, though I never imagined it would be in the beauty industry! Growing up with an entrepreneurial father who built his business from the ground up, I suppose the spirit of entrepreneurship was in my blood. Watching his determination, drive, and the success that followed laid the foundation for my own passion to start a business one day.

I’ve worked in various fields in my life—hospitality, sales, marketing, retail—to name a few—but never felt I had found my true calling. That all changed when I was forced into unemployment like so many others during the Covid pandemic. I was furloughed from my marketing job, with a 6-month-old at home, and the stress was overwhelming. During this time, I reflected on what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I’d always been fascinated by beauty, most particularly lashes. I wore strip lashes daily until I discovered lash extensions: a beauty hack that quite literally transformed my life by simplifying my morning routine, saving me time as a busy mom, and boosting my confidence like I’d never experienced. I realized I wanted to start a business that could transform other women’s lives, just as lashes had transformed mine. Building relationships, boosting confidence, and helping women feel beautiful every day—it all felt so right.

So, I took the leap! I enrolled in esthetician school, became a certified lash artist, and soon after getting my license, began working with clients. Within just a few months, I opened my very own lash studio in Oceanside, CA. The journey has been anything but easy, with challenges that pushed me to my limits, but it has also been the most beautiful and rewarding experience of my life. I’ve learned so much about myself and the joy of truly loving what you do.

Now, I feel like I’m exactly where I belong. I’m excited for the future, and although lashing is my passion, I’m thrilled to expand my services in the coming year—so stay tuned!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road to starting my lash business has been anything but smooth! I initially thought it was simply mastering the art of lashes, and that would be it. But there’s so much more to it—startup costs, products, business accounts, customer service, marketing, accounting, bookkeeping, client paperwork, and then, of course, continually perfecting your skillset. It’s an ongoing journey!

Honestly, I wish esthetician school had covered more of the business side of things because that was a real eye-opener after I graduated. It’s been a grind, and I’ve learned so much along the way, but I’ve managed to do it on my own, with the support of friends and family of course, and I’m pretty proud of that!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’ve been a lash artist for over three and a half years now, creating customized lash extensions that perfectly cater to the busy woman on the go. Whether it’s timeless and elegant Angel lashes or dramatic, luxurious Mega Volume lashes, I offer a range of styles to suit every client. My specialty is natural, wispy lashes with long-lasting retention—something I’ve worked tirelessly to master over the years—and I’m incredibly proud of it.

My goal is to make sure each client feels special, using the highest quality products and the latest techniques to create stunning, customized lash looks. With my passion for lash artistry and extensive training, I focus on enhancing every client’s natural beauty while making sure they feel completely comfortable and relaxed throughout the entire process. From the moment they walk in, they’ll feel pampered in a cozy, welcoming space, and when they leave, they’ll not only look fabulous, but feel more confident than ever before.

What does success mean to you?
To me, success isn’t just about reaching a certain milestone or hitting a big goal—though those moments are definitely worth celebrating! It’s more about the everyday victories, like seeing a client’s face light up when they see their lashes, or knowing I’ve made someone’s day a little brighter and their life a little easier. It’s about continuously growing, learning, and staying true to my values while building a business that reflects who I am. Success is knowing that I’m doing what I love, making a positive impact, and creating something special that I’m proud of every single day.
