Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Alyse.
Hi Katie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been a hairstylist for 16 years and in that time, I’ve had the opportunity to do many things! I’ve been an educator for several hair brands, done hair for television, photoshoots, fashion shows and more. When I hit 12 years in the industry, I felt burnt out and needed a change. I became a reiki master and full time astrologer! I’ve worked with clients all over the world, held sold out spiritual/astrological retreats and held many educational workshops on self-care through astrology. In the most recent years, I’ve gotten back into the hair world and began incorporating all of this into hair care! I love adding reiki energy work, crystals and healing magic in everything I do. I’ve been in my own suite for the last 6 years but recently began working at A Robert Cromeans Salon in downtown San Diego and I am the happiest I have ever been!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been many challenges and bumps along the road, but every single one of them was worth it. It led me to where I am today! I’ve been told “you’re crazy!” or “no one will understand this” or “can you even make money doing that?” I’ve proved them all wrong, but honestly I’ve done it all for myself. To prove to myself that I am capable of anything – and you are too.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m San Diego’s first reiki-infused hairstylist and I’ve educated other hairstylists and estheticians on this practice. I am proud to see my fellow beauty industry providers making their dreams come true through the art of healing. Their businesses are flourishing, their much more happier and their clients love it too! Because I’ve been an educator for most of my career, my background is cutting and color specialist as well.
