Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Farhood.
Hi Katie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was a makeup lover since I was a little
girl- my mom would buy me those kid’s makeup kits and I would smear it all over my face, then carry the kit around with me so I could just stare at it all day. There was something about it that I was enamored by. Growing up, I was an artist. Any medium I could work with kept me occupied every day- clay, painting, watercolor. So at 12 years old my mom let me wear makeup out of the house, and I practiced every single day. That brings us up to 2018 where I started posting my makeup looks online. It caught wind, and really blew up in 2020 when short form videos were on the rise. 2021 was when I quit all my jobs to do content creation full
time and I haven’t looked back since!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a content creator does require some self- discipline. Being your own boss, creative director, talent- you need to make sure you have everything in place. My job is to create original, enticing, creative content to put out every single day on all social media platforms. So when there’s any creative block, work may slow down.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a makeup artist I have done so many things over the span of my career. I am proud of the relationships I have built with brands that I look up to, and having my creativity getting recognition by others. I think what sets me apart from others is the range of my makeup skills. I can do the average girl’s glam, or turn myself into an SFX character from a movie. Makeup art is limitless and that’s the beauty of it.
