Today we’d like to introduce you to LeeAnn Lockhart.
Hi LeeAnn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I had originally planned to go to nursing school, but life had other plans. After marrying a Marine and moving to California while he was stationed at Camp Pendleton, everything changed. Two babies later, all I wanted was to stay home with them. I didn’t want to miss a single moment. That’s when I picked up a camera…It all began with my own children. Their tiny toes, their little fingers, all the details I never wanted to forget. Motherhood showed me how fleeting those moments are, and that’s when I picked up a camera for the first time.. and never put it back down. What started as a personal passion quickly became something more. A lifelong love of storytelling through photography. Now, I have the privilege of capturing those same precious details for other families, so they can hold onto the moments that matter most. Being a small part of someone’s story is such a gift, and I never take it for granted.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. When I first started out, I said yes to every single client who reached out, even if they weren’t the right fit for me. I charged very little, took on anything I could, and looking back, my editing was pretty rough (I’m honestly surprised anyone stuck with me!). I struggled to find the right clients. The ones who truly connected with my style and valued what I do. I also wrestled with pricing, trying to balance charging my worth while still keeping my sessions affordable for families, which has always been so important to me. And, of course, it was challenging to stand out in an area filled with so many talented, up-and-coming photographers.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in everything family. There’s something so special about capturing the sweet, in-between moments that make a family who they are – the giggles, the little hand holds, the quiet snuggles, and the way everyone lights up when they’re together. Those are the moments that make my heart the happiest to photograph. I love turning those fleeting seconds into timeless memories, the kind you can feel every time you look back at them. It’s such a joy and an honor to help families see just how beautiful their everyday love really is.
I think I’m best known for how much heart I put into every session and for making the experience fun, especially for the kids. I give my whole heart and soul to every single session, and my top priority is always making sure families walk away with photos they truly love.
