Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Weiss.
Lisa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been practicing optometry in the San Diego area for over 20 years. During Optometry school, I became heavily interested in helping patients with visual related learning difficulties, amblyopia, strabismus, neurodiversity, brain injury, dizziness and stroke with developmental and neuro-rehabilitation techniques.
This interest prompted me to obtain a Masters in Visual Function and Learning and complete a residency program in Vision Therapy and Rehabilitation at the SUNY State College of Optometry. After residency, I further advanced my training in this area with a fellowship in The Optometric Vision Development and Rehabilitation Association. Currently my practice, in Rancho Santa Fe along with primary care optometry and ocular disease, I provided comprehensive services to treat these type of patients.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My path has been relatively smooth. I have been lucky enough to have excellent mentors that have helped me along the way.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I love helping people get back to the activities they love the most. Optometry is such a great profession because all aspects of our lives from school to work to sports and hobbies can be enhanced when the visual system is working to its full potential.
I am proud of the level of technology I use in the practice and the personalized care our team is able to provide.
