Today we’d like to introduce you to Maryam Khosroanjam
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Maryam! I studied biotechnology at the University of Heriot-Watt in the beautiful and historical city of Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2015, I made the big move to California and worked as a research assistant at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Just a year later, I decided to leave my job and follow my passion for travel. Since then, I’ve traveled to 30 countries and visited over 100 cities around the world, turning my adventures into my own business. Two years ago, my husband and I moved to sunny San Diego, where I create content about travel, lifestyle, and anything interesting.
Over the past few years, I’ve had the pleasure of working with a diverse range of businesses, from small local brands to larger companies. For example, I did a promotion campaign for a US immigration law firm and it went so well that I’m now a longer term brand ambassador for them. My main focus has been on promoting their stories and helping them build brand awareness. Each business comes with its own unique challenges and goals, and I’ve enjoyed crafting personalized strategies that align with their vision and resonate with their audience.
For small businesses, it’s often about connecting with the community and building strong, loyal customer relationships. I’ve worked closely with them to highlight their authenticity and what makes them special. On the other hand, with bigger clients, the challenge is scaling those efforts to reach a wider audience while maintaining that personal touch.
I take pride in seeing the results of these collaborations, whether it’s through increased sales, more engagement, or a growing online presence. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m excited about the impact I can continue to make in the business world through storytelling and digital promotion.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all. Starting my own business and traveling full-time came with its fair share of struggles. From navigating different cultures and languages to dealing with unexpected travel mishaps and financial uncertainties, the journey has been full of challenges.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced is maintaining the trust of my community. It’s incredibly important to me that the products I promote are not only high-quality but also align with my values and the interests of my audience. That means I often have to do a lot of due diligence to ensure that the brands and products I collaborate with are a good fit.
There have been times when I’ve had to pass on opportunities because the product wasn’t available for me to try or evaluate firsthand, which made it hard for me to confidently recommend it. I feel a responsibility to my followers to only introduce them to things that I genuinely believe in, and that can make the process more difficult at times. But in the end, I believe it’s worth it to maintain that level of integrity. When I see the positive results and the impact my promotions have, it fascinates me and reaffirms why I prioritize authenticity and transparency in my work.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an influencer and content creator, specializing in travel and lifestyle. My journey began when I made the bold decision to leave my job as a research assistant, a role that offered stability and a good salary, to pursue my passion for traveling the world and working for myself.
What sets me apart is my commitment to collecting experiences rather than material things. I aim to inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and explore the beauty and diversity of our world. I’m most proud of taking that leap of faith to follow my dreams, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to share my adventures and connect with a global audience.
I initially became known as a travel blogger, sharing my adventures and experiences with my audience. But over time, I realized that storytelling was at the heart of everything I did. I began to see opportunities all around me—not just in travel, but in everyday moments—to tell stories that connect and inspire. Now, I’m more recognized as a storyteller, someone who can transform experiences into content that resonates with people. Whether it’s through travel, lifestyle, or working with brands, my focus is always on creating stories that leave an impact.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What truly makes me happy is planning my next adventure—there’s something exciting about looking up a new destination and imagining the experiences ahead. But beyond that, I feel a deep sense of fulfillment when I complete a campaign or promotion and see how satisfied my clients are. Knowing that I introduced them in a way that resonates and seeing their happiness with my work reassures me that I’m on the right path.
It’s also incredibly rewarding when people reach out and tell me that my stories inspired them to step out of their comfort zones and explore the world. That sense of making a positive impact on others’ lives is what keeps me motivated and excited about what I do.
