Check Out Melissa Arguelles’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Arguelles.

Hi Maya, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started when I was a teenage girl I would always catch myself writing in cursive and drawing eyebrows, I love how eyebrows enhanced the structure and features in our face I realized shaping brows is an art and I wanted to make a career out of it, that’s when I started my permanent makeup journey in beginning of 2019 I took at class for Microblading and Ombre Brows in Huntington Beach it was four days straight and I drove from San Diego County to Los Angles everyday it was a sacrifice I was willing to take, few months in I took another class in Huntington Beach. I started doing close friends and family members eyebrows. Covid hit our nation causing mandatory lockdown, and during Covid my mom got diagnosed with cancer September 2021. I put my journey on hold to care for her, she wanted me to finish this journey So, December 2021, I found an amazing artist who I took a course from and had an opportunity to be an apprentice and here I am today offering a few services on eyebrows.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road at all it many sleepless nights, feeling discouraged definitely had my fair share on struggles with eyebrows, times when I wanted to quit, but with practice and practice and believing in myself I was able to get where I am today not where I want to be goal wise but I will get there one day. (God willing)

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize on Ombré brows it’s permanent makeup its tiny pigments dots that’s creates a makeup look, I also do Lamination brows it’s a style that creates an illusion of fuller brows and Henna brows that’s stains the skin 3-7 days and hair for 2-3 weeks. I’m most proud of all my hard work paying off by seeing the client’s reactions to their new brows. Every artist is amazing on what they do, I feel what sets me apart from others is my personality.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
YouTube 🙂 lots of tutorials helped me a lot. I learned so much by watching these videos and also joining pmu groups on Facebook, and of course faith in god.
