Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
One Life Clothing was born from both pain and purpose. My journey started in the Marine Corps, where I served for 22 years, dedicating my life to leadership, discipline, and resilience. But in 2015, my life took an unexpected turn when I was diagnosed with keratoconus, a progressive eye disease that left me completely blind. Losing my sight wasn’t just a physical battle—it was a mental war. I struggled with depression, and at my lowest, I faced thoughts of suicide. I felt like I had lost everything—my independence, my career, my identity.
But instead of letting my circumstances define me, I chose to fight back. That’s where the name One Life comes from—the realization that we only get one shot at this life, and it’s up to us to make it count. With that mindset, I turned to entrepreneurship as a way to rebuild myself. I taught myself how to sew and started designing clothes. What began as a therapeutic escape quickly became a business.
Coming from an inner-city background, I knew the power of standing out, staying motivated, and making bold moves—not just in business, but in life. One Life Clothing became a symbol of ambition, hustle, and individuality. I designed pieces that spoke to the culture—luxury streetwear that wasn’t just about fashion but about mindset. Our collections, from I Am the Brand to the Bloodline Sneakers, embody confidence, ambition, and the relentless pursuit of success.
But I didn’t stop at clothing. I wanted One Life to be more than just a brand—I wanted it to be a lifestyle. That’s why I created Success Fragrances, a line of original, oil-based luxury scents designed to compete with high-end brands. Today, One Life Clothing has expanded into apparel, footwear, and fragrances, offering custom work for businesses, sports teams, and events, helping others elevate their brands just like I did mine.
Through all the struggles, I learned that adversity doesn’t define you—your response to it does. My journey is still being written, but if there’s one thing I stand on, it’s this: You only get one life, so you might as well make it legendary.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
One of the biggest struggles was establishing credibility in the fashion industry. Competing with major brands while creating something unique and high-quality wasn’t easy, especially as a Black-owned business. I had to prove that One Life Clothing could stand on its own—not just as a brand, but as a movement representing ambition, hustle, and self-made success.
Another challenge was funding and scaling. Unlike big corporations with deep pockets, I had to be strategic with every dollar—investing in materials, production, marketing, and expanding into new products like Success Fragrances and custom apparel for businesses and sports teams. There were times when production delays happened, or marketing didn’t hit the way I expected. But I never let setbacks stop me; I learned, adjusted, and kept pushing forward.
Balancing everything—design, branding, finances, and customer engagement—was another hurdle. I’m not just a business owner; I’m hands-on with everything, from content creation to handling orders. I even do the modeling and photography. But that’s what makes One Life Clothing different. It’s personal.
Despite the challenges, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every struggle has taught me resilience, strategy, and the power of staying true to my vision. Now, my brand is growing stronger every day, and I’m proud to see One Life Clothing making an impact.

✔ Luxury Fragrances: Success Fragrances, my original oil-based scent collection designed to rival high-end brands. Which also comes with match lotion and shower gels.
Everything I design has a deeper meaning—whether it’s our “I Am The Brand” tee reminding people to own their power or the “Where the Money Resides” hoodie symbolizing financial success and ambition. My brand isn’t just fashion; it’s about mindset and legacy.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud of how far One Life Clothing has come from an idea to a brand that people connect with. Seeing customers rock my pieces, tag me in their photos, and embrace the message behind each design is the biggest reward. Expanding into custom work and fragrances has also been a huge milestone—proving that my vision for One Life Clothing is bigger than just clothing.
