Check Out Michele Baratta-Detwiler’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Baratta-Detwiler

Hi Michele, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I create content to inspire and empower women over 50 to live life to the fullest! At 58,

I know firsthand how easy it is to get stuck in a style rut.
Many women in my audience struggle with wearing the same old thing, and that’s where I step in with simple OOTD ideas, a dose of inspiration, and some fun.

Before this, I spent years as a fashion jewelry designer, and I’m proud to say my pieces were worn on iconic shows like *Friends* and *90210*. After almost 17 years in retirement, I’m thrilled to now be sharing my passion for style with an amazing community!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After retiring, at such a young age, I kind of lost my mojo. One day my adult daughter and her BFF were in my living room. They were on Instagram and said “Mom, you should really be an influencer.” You were in fashion and you have so much to share!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Since becoming an influencer 16 months ago, my Instagram community has grown to over 114K incredible women, all 50 years young and beyond. What sets me apart is that I’m completely unapologetically myself. I’ve built this platform by inspiring women to remember just how amazing they are, reminding them that age is just a number—after all, 50 is the new 30! I’m most proud of the way I’ve been able to help women rediscover their confidence and style. My mission is simple: to show women that their age does not define them, and to have fun with fashion along the way.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
The Covid-19 crisis showed me how people can come together for the common good, but it also revealed people’s true colors. It was a time when you could clearly see who was willing to step up and help others and who felt entitled, expecting things to be done for them. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of community, compassion, and how much stronger we are when we support each other through tough times.
