Check Out Mike Warner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mike Warner.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started out as a DJ in Australia, then wanted to do more and got into music production, radio and everything music-related that I could. After moving to the US, I shifted to releasing music independently and not through a record label. I learned so much from doing everything myself and documented the process. This lead to everything being put into a book and the book lead to speaking gigs at SXSW, NAMM, Music Biz, and on TV including CNBC. Now I love being able to share what I know to help musicians, especially local musicians here in San Diego.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road. There were many mistakes made, emails sent too quickly, elevator pitches not ready. Being socially awkward, shy, and always fighting imposter syndrome and self-doubt are the main causes.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a self-published author with two books available in stores worldwide. Work Hard Playlist Hard and Work Hard Playlist Hard (Second Edition) can be purchased from independent and major bookstores, in addition to being checked out from libraries globally. Sharing my knowledge in written form led to me being invited to speaking gigs, specifically keynotes and workshops. I’ve spent many years as an MC in nightclubs and despite my shy and quiet nature, it all goes out the window when I have a stage and a microphone.

I’m most proud of the artists that have actioned what I share and seen success for their own music as a result. The reason I got into this side of the music industry was because I love helping everyone instead of just helping myself.

Any big plans?
My plans for the future, you know what… here’s my dream. I love speaking. If I could travel, meet, educate, and help artists around the world I would be very happy.
