Check Out Morgan Hesse’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Hesse.

Hi Morgan, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I began baking from scratch as a young teen and fell in love – although I was not very good. I failed many many times! I would pull soupy cakes out of the oven time and time again, but the process of baking was always so satisfying for me even when I failed, so I never gave up. My brother’s girlfriend worked at a bakery and guided me with a few simple tips. After that, I really just grew. I come from a family of creators, both parents and my brother are all artists. I always drew, but baking allowed my creations to turn to edible art! Combining my love for drawing and baking, I bloomed into a confectionary artist specializing in custom cakes and treats for weddings and celebratory events.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely been a bumpy road! Part of being an artist is you are ALWAYS learning new techniques and evolving your skills, no matter if you’re a beginner or a professional I believe you are always pushing your skills. My cakes and treats have grown so much in just this last year. From struggling with recipes to executing the final cake, I have learned and adapted to staple recipes I know I can trust and won’t lose consistency or let me down when building a beautiful cake for my brides and customers!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in custom cakes and treats for weddings and celebratory events of all types. I am most known for my boho aesthetic, using dried florals and neutral tones on my cakes and treats.

My cakesicles are my best sellers for celebratory events like baby showers and engagement or bridal showers.

My tiered cakes are my best sellers for weddings with a California beachy boho vibe. I work closely with a florist for my locally sourced dried florals and always use quality grade ingredients setting me apart from most other bakers. I have a small community of other local small businesses I use for my products to support other woman-owned businesses in my community, so when you order from Whiskn’it Bakery, you’re not only helping one small woman-owned business, but multiple!

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory is sharing my birthday parties with my older late brother. Our birthdays are 1 week apart with a 4 year age gap, but we grew up very close to one another. My mom always threw us parties together and I remember having a large party with a jumper and cotton candy machine. My mom created a really awesome candy bar for everyone to fill bags with as much as they wanted, one of our best parties!!
