Today we’d like to introduce you to Natasha Krohn
Hi Natasha, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story started with family friends pushing me to do their family and maternity images. After their persistence and support I made a Facebook post offering family sessions at a discounted price. I found myself overwhelmed with clients reaching out which pushed me to build a website and start a business. After leaving my career of 7 years running a spa in the San Diego airport I pursued photography full time.
My business spread mostly by word of mouth and the occasional post on social media. I’ve been blessed and feel grateful to have a very supportive network between family, friends and clients.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s a lot of ups and downs with photography. The business can be seasonal and you are always looking for new ideas and avenues to take to gain clientele.
I can be socially awkward at times so my biggest struggle is to push myself to do jobs that are out of my comfort zone.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a natural light photographer whose style is film reminiscent and nostalgic. With a documentary style feel , I like to capture the moments and things most people wouldn’t notice. I really enjoy shoots with photographers , models and creatives in my field.
I’m most proud of following a passion and hobby I’ve always loved and turning it into a job that can support my twins and all our animals.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I have a mixture of both , there’s definitely times I feel the Universe is against me and there is not many shoots on the books but I remind myself it’s all temporary in life and that the blessings of being booked and busy will come.
