Today we’d like to introduce you to Nix Malik.
Hi Nix, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I was 14 years old when my interest in photography began but I went to the UK in 2013 to study Law. However, when I was there, I started frequenting museums, photography, and art galleries, also experienced my first London Fashion Week and came to the realization that photography really was my calling. That is when I decided to buy my first DSLR camera and started photographing people and street scenes. Peoples’ raw emotions was really captivating for me. I then found fashion, more specifically editorial and high fashion and that is where my fashion photography journey began. I left law school in 2016 and enrolled in a photography school in Milan followed by Paris where I shot street style at Paris Fashion Week. It was truly life-changing. I have since worked with some of the best magazines, makeup artists, models, and designers in the industry ranging from cities like Singapore, Dubai, Milan, Paris, and Portugal.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not exactly been smooth sailing. As a photographer, it can be difficult to make people realize how we price our services. Photographers are also taken for granted a lot as everyone with a smartphone is a photographer nowadays. However, everything I have experienced has led me to where I am today so I am grateful even for the challenges as I see them as lessons that helped me grow and better my craft.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
To quote Dave Grohl “No one is you and that is your biggest power”. I don’t think of others as my competitors but rather people I can learn from and in return teach something to. I am a fashion and beauty photographer. I specialize in luxury fashion and beauty photography. That is something I am extremely passionate about. And I am proud of the fact that I get to pursue my passion on a daily basis.

I recently started a YouTube Channel where I talk about mental health, self-betterment, books, spirituality, along with unboxing videos and GRWM’s, amongst other things.
