Check Out Noelle Deane’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Noelle Deane.

Hi Noelle, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Originally from the NY/NJ area, I moved to San Diego 30 years ago. I was looking to make life changes and fortunately had family here that helped make me feel more at home. Knowing I wanted to help people but not sure in what capacity, I had various jobs the first few years, not exactly sure what I was looking for. Decided to go to Grad school, knowing the kind of helping I wanted to do would require that degree. In December 2000, I completed a Masters degree in psychology on track with becoming a licensed therapist , I was able to get a practicum in a transitional living program for 16 and 17 year olds who were about to age out of the foster care system. I so enjoyed being around those young people. It became the highlight of my week.

As soon as I heard about San Pasqual Academy (SPA) a long term facility aiming to house foster teens, keeping siblings together and provide stable housing so they would graduate from high school, I knew I had to be there. Like many of my coworkers, my presence there felt destined and I couldn’t have been happier about being there. Spending time with, caring about, getting to know all the teens was such an honor. I completed my licensure hours plus some in the 10 years I spent at SPA. Looking for a more flexible schedule and professional growth potential, I found employment as a supervisor and did some management work in other mental health programs. There were many rewarding moments and the work was less consuming in some ways but it was never as fulfilling as SPA.

In 2015, I was diagnosed and underwent treatment for breast cancer. The recovery from chemotherapy was long and trying. There is a level of cognitive impairment (brain fog and memory) that remains. I was only able to return to my old work part time, having limited responsibilities and at some point, I was unable to meet their needs and left mental health work in December 2021.

My spiritual path was on the back burner for many years. When the brain fog set in, using my intuition was my only hope of making decisions or knowing what to do with myself. It became a strength I learned to rely on more and more over time. I learned about Medical Intuition (using intuitive skills to connect to the energy of someone’s body to be able to learn about what is happening physically, emotionally and energetically) and took to that quickly. I became certified within a few years. It felt so gratifying to have found something I could be competent in. I learned so much including the intuitive and connection skills that I hadn’t developed that could be used for Mediumship.

A few years later, a dear friend had her grown child pass away in a car accident. I didnt know what to do to support or comfort her. She came to my house about two weeks after the incident just to eat her lunch and spend some time together. During our time on the patio connecting, I started feeling a presence getting stronger and stronger. I knew that it was Amy, my friends’ daughter. This wasn’t my first time connecting with someone who passed away but it was still unexpected. Once I shared what was happening, the most heartfelt, vulnerable, humble, loving and easy to connect with version of Amy’s heart and soul came out of my mouth as I received and shared her words and messages. This experience taught me that I could do mediumship and showed me what mediumship could provide- healing, laughter, connection, releasing some grief, a renewed sense of loving somebody and continuing a relationship that didn’t seem possible but happened.

Since that day in October 2021, I have done and continue to do various types of sessions/readings. Those readings can include loved ones who have passed as well as spirit guides, pets, people who are non-verbal such as those with Alzheimer’s or another disability. I wrote “Mediumship Foundations-A Condensed Guide for the Absolute Beginner” as well as teach classes (online and in-person) with the intention of supporting, encouraging and empowering others people to feel unlimited in the connection(s) they want in their lives. I host a podcast, Mediumship Sparks, where we talk about and use mediumship to bring all kinds of perspectives in about life and ourselves. I am working on two more books.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been obstacles, hurdles, heartbreak – life stuff. My experience with cancer and the recovery took up a few years of both my husband’s and my life. Difficult family situations and family members passing that left a gap in our lives that mediumship can help ease but not erase. We lost the home we were renting in the 2007 Witch Creek Fire. We purchased a house and had an electrical fire in 2010. We had to gut the house and rebuild from the studs.

Post cancer treatment, I couldn’t physically or mentally return to work in my former capacity. I had to release a professional identity that I felt pretty good about as did other people. Over the past several years, my new profession is embraced by some and less digestible to others. There can be a lot of judgement about the work I do by those with differing faith and beliefs as well as those that may have been treated poorly by a previous intuitive/psychic or medium. I was very taken advantage of by a psychic many years ago. I get that part of the skepticism and lack of trust. Integrity, respect, boundaries and consent are always a priority for me. I work to empower, support and lift people up as much as I can in this area. I want my students and clients to not need or rely on me or any other person to benefit from the beauty, love, connection and healing that the spiritual world has to offer them.

My husband’s unconditional and generous support helps me in every way as I work toward having a spiritual business. Without that, I would have only hoped to been able to focus on realizing my spiritual potential and using it to help others.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve heard from some of my students that my profound vulnerability makes people feel safe. I share a lot about myself and my journey. I want to be approachable-not so woo woo that people can’t relate to me as well as encouraging. I know that anyone who is motivated to learn and practice can do what I do and more. I don’t hold back in sharing about that. I am not special in this way. I am just relentlessly inspired by all the goodies we can enjoy through our spiritual connections and I keep doing it.

One of the things I feel sets me apart from others is the level of support I give to my students when I am teaching a class. My beginners mediumship class is 12 weeks long. That is a big investment of time for everyone. I’ve thought about shortening the class but I want people to reach a certain level of competence before our work together is complete. I include a few coaching sessions to help people stay unstuck as well as extra practice time. In fact, to create more mediumship practice and intuitive awareness, I will be starting my first Mediumship Development Circle on June 1st. It will be held every Sunday from 12:00-2:00 at Return to Wholeness Metaphysical Shop, 13514 Pomerado Road, Poway. In this group, my students as well as people from the area can come together, enjoy a sense of community with like-minded folks as well as learning and playing in the energies of love and healing.

In my readings, I easily pick up on relationship and personality dynamics from people in spirit. When it feels appropriate, I have been known to do a bit of mediating in sessions to support mending broken fences. When people transition out of their bodies, there can be a great transformation where the most genuine and loving part of themselves is available for us to connect with. Like those of us still walking around, we are all a bit different and do things in our own time. Change, sincere apologies and fresh starts are always possible. I find those moments so inspiring as well as when someone is able to experience their own connection with their own loved one in spirit for the first time. There are usually a lot of tears in both, in a very good way.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I take various classes with a particular teacher whose mediumship, philosophy about his work and teaching style I admire. I have reconnected with my first mediumship development facilitator who I’ve adopted as a mentor as well as a wonderful friend. I was inspired to mentor one of my students in mediumship for one year. We did many readings and activities together. That was very successful in helping her move quickly through the normal self-doubt and find her own way.
