Check Out Paz’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paz

Hi Paz, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I have been lucky enough to explore many different forms of art including filmmaking, writing, painting, drawing, sculpting and many others. I have won an award for a piece of jewelry I created as well as a directing award for my WWII Drama short film ‘Champagne’ which played nationally through KCET and my Comedy short film ‘Whack The Folly’ was selected to represent my film school, Columbia College Hollywood, for the student BAFTA awards. I have also helped with installing art shows for galleries in San Diego where I also maintained an art studio where I created and curated monthly art shows of my mentor’s and my own art. I also worked in photography and videography for the Art on 30th and Ashton Gallery social media and websites. I currently work for myself and continue to explore storytelling in all mediums including filmmaking, painting, theater, and mixed media art. Everything I have learned and everything I have experienced has gone into building my approach towards my own art resulting in my own unique storytelling style.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been smooth at all but I wouldn’t want to struggle this much for something I don’t love this much. There’s tons of struggles financial, emotional, physical but there’s pay offs as well. Little victories that will hopefully lead to something bigger.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I just love telling stories with images. Whether it’s filmmaking, painting, drawing, sculptures, comic books. It’s all story telling with images and within that the stories range from simple to complex. I love exploring characters and their phycology. I love creating characters that have their own unique points of view of the world.

What makes you happy?
My work. I love what I do. But also going to the movies, seeing live performances. Any chance I get to see an artist do their art it’s fun not matter what medium it is.
