Check Out Robert Hernandez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert Hernandez.

Hi Robert, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have always been around the lowrider car scene because of my dad, but I never had any interest in learning about lowriders even though I would always go with my dad to the shows. It wasn’t until about 2 years ago that I really started to get involved. I know lowriding has always been a passion for my dad so I know he’s happy I finally grew my interest in them. I started doing photography in December of 2020 and since my dad has always had his own lowrider, He would always let me take pictures of it. That helped me grow my interest even MORE because I can see all the small beautiful details a lowrider has. Lowrider photography is now a part of my life. I love going to car shows to capture lowrider content.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Has been a smooth road? Hmm. I would say yes and no. Yes, because my dad is well connected in the lowrider community so it has been easy to schedule photo shoots with people and go to car shows.

No, because a lot of the BIG car shows will be hosted out of state or out of town, so I need to pick and choose which shows I can attend.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a photographer. I can do more than just lowrider photography. I do portraits, maternity, family, cars, engagement, etc.

But lowrider photography is what I love to do. I want people to know who I am without me having to introduce myself.

I am most proud of my commitment. I know I need to keep pushing so I can strive to be the best I can be.

What sets me apart from others is my pictures are not edited to copy someone else’s style. I edit my pictures to my liking because I know people will like what I bring to the table instead of seeing all the same style repeatedly.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The will to be committed. If, I stay committed to my photography I know I can make it to where I want to be.
