Today we’d like to introduce you to Ronnie Casillas.

Ronnie Casillas

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
This year, I celebrate 19 years in the hairdressing profession. I embarked on this journey immediately after high school, initially believing it would be an enjoyable way to work with hair.

However, I quickly discovered my talent for it and found immense satisfaction in my craft. During my school years, I often struggled academically and didn’t feel particularly intelligent.

As a hairdresser, I have the opportunity to express my creativity, which I truly cherish.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Reaching this point in my profession has not been easy for me. It has require a lot of time and patience to achieve what I have, On a personal level, starting fresh at a new salon that is relatively unknown can be quite challenging.

In the past, there was no social media to showcase your hairstyles or promote your services. While social media can influence potential clients, it often does not lead to a steady stream of customers, at least in my experience. I find that word of mouth is far more effective.

Every client serves as a walking advertisement, so it is essential to treat them as such when building your clientele. Staying current with the latest styles and techniques is crucial for success.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in empowering individuals by enhancing their beauty through personalized their haircuts and hair color. As a hairdresser, my focus is on helping clients feel confident and exceptional.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
As a child, I often practiced hairstyling on my family and friends. I was under the impression that my mother was a professional hairdresser in her youth, but it turned out she simply enjoyed cutting hair and referred to herself as one. When I was around 12, I decided to cut my cousin’s hair, believing I was just trimming the length and adding layers. Surprisingly, the result was quite impressive.

During my upbringing, i was the youngest so sometimes i had to accompanied my mother to her work cleaning offices, banks and even beauty schools! One day we had to go clean a beauty school in Hillcrest called Mariela school of Beauty this school had been there for decades. Isaw my chance to play and style the doll heads and I even curled their hair. I was in heaven I would tell my mother that I intended to attend the same school when I grew up, and indeed, I eventually enrolled in that very school where I had played with the doll heads as a child.
