Today we’d like to introduce you to Tasha And Erik Wahl.
Hi Tasha and Erik, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Erik and I started the Wahl Group when we were 29 years old. We had been working in the corporate world but were looking for something where we could engage more people and work together. Over 30 years of building our business later we have written books, created films, and spoken all over the world about innovation and creativity. Our foundation the Butterfly Effect comes out of our belief that one small action makes a difference and that we all must Be the Change we want to see in the world.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s no such thing as a straight river. I don’t think it’s possible to move from A to B without struggle. But looking back, our failures have turned out to be our greatest strengths. We grew, learned, and were reshaped far more through failing than succeeding. Most of our missteps came from climbing a ladder that turned out to be leaning against the wrong wall. When our goals were more followers, a best-selling book, more money, or more recognition, it was never enough. The chase felt hollow.
Everything shifted when we stopped striving for success and started showing up to serve. When we focused on being present and offering something meaningful to the people right in front of us, we finally found what we had been searching for all along. In the end, what we were really after wasn’t success at all, it was significance.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Erik and Tasha Wahl are artists, speakers, authors, and entrepreneurs who founded The Wahl Group 30 years ago to inspire creativity and innovation. Erik, a globally acclaimed artist and TED speaker, delivers dynamic keynotes and has authored bestselling books The Spark and the Grind and Unthink. Tasha, the executive producer and a philanthropist, created The Butterfly Effect, a movement using art to spark generosity and social change. Together, they challenge conventional thinking and ignite lasting impact. Married for 31 years, they live in San Diego with their three sons.
Any big plans?
The change for us is that we trust the business we are supposed to get, will come to us. The Audiences that we need to be in front of will find us. It’s about human connection and how we relate to others. I used to spend hours marketing our keynotes – while I still am engaged with our clients, my metrics are not how many bookings we have but rather the quality of the work we are doing.
