Today we’d like to introduce you to Victor Batista and Mayra Morais.
Hi Victor and Mayra, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The idea of The Youniq Handcrafted started between two friends, owners of different small businesses, who shared the same desire to offer something else for customers and not only sell products. Part of our commitment is to bring various artists together to produce the most diverse collection of handcrafted items.
There are no labels within us, no specific styles, no standard targets. Our goal is to be able to offer a unique experience to reach the needs of each person. We believe that the human singularity is what makes everyone special and “YOUNIQ”.
We use resourceful ingredients and tools to create all the magic in every single product because taking care of our planet is also part of our commitment with the community.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a first-time business owners, we have faced bumps along the road. We think many business owners can relate to that. Once you start everything, you realize that there’s a lot of phrases you have to go through before getting to the final product.
We always focused on the bigger project and how it could have a good impact in people’s lives so we just kept going.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’ve always been known for being crafty. At a very young age, I started expressing myself through many different kinds of art. Photography, videography, painting… basically, if I can create with my hands I’m down for it! The pandemic took a big toll on me and that’s when I sat down with Mayra, who is my business partner and also close friend and has always been inside of the creative world working in the advertising industry, to give life to The Youniq Handcrafted.
“Our baby” got named as the youniq ( YOu-are-UNIQue ) handcrafted to symbolize the uniqueness of everyone.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There’s many ways people can collaborate with us! We are always looking for new artists and makers to develop a unique experience for the community. We believe that every artist should have a spot to shine with their art and our intention is to provide that environment where people feel welcomed and loved for who they are and what they do.
