Hi Viviana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always been a bit of the black sheep in my family — a little more creative, a little more out there, and never quite on the traditional path my parents envisioned for me. Growing up, I was fascinated by how makeup and beauty could transform not just someone’s look, but the way they felt about themselves. That’s what first drew me toward the beauty world.
After trying a few traditional college paths that never felt right, I finally followed my heart and enrolled in beauty school. That’s where I discovered the art of lash extensions — the ability to enhance someone’s natural features and give them that instant confidence and glow.
After getting licensed, I worked a 9-to-5 in healthcare while lashing on the side. I loved it, but I was scared to leave the security of my full-time job. Both of my parents were business owners, and growing up around that work ethic made me realize I was meant for more than just clocking in and out.
My dad was my biggest supporter and always told me, “Do something you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life.” Those words hit differently in 2020, when the entire world shifted and I lost him. Losing him made me realize that life is far too short to doubt yourself or hold back from doing something you love just because you’re afraid. That year became my turning point — I chose to believe in myself, quit my job, and move back to San Diego with my son to officially open Lashed by Vivi.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of serving the incredible women of San Diego. Every day, I get to create art, connect with strong, inspiring women, and play a small part in helping them feel beautiful, confident, and empowered.
I feel so lucky to do what I do. I’ve made lasting connections with so many amazing people, and I truly love being part of their beauty journey. I’m a firm believer that whatever you pour your energy, love, and passion into will bloom and grow into something beautiful — but it all starts with believing in yourself enough to begin.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of my biggest challenges has been battling imposter syndrome and being too hard on myself. As an artist, I set high standards because I truly believe my clients deserve the best. That pressure can be tough at times, but it’s also what pushes me to grow.
I’ve learned to turn that self-criticism into motivation — investing in education, taking new classes, and staying ahead of trends so I can always offer my clients the best of the best. I remind myself that it’s not about being perfect; it’s about continuing to evolve, refine my craft, and show up with love and intention every day.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I would describe my lashing style as diverse — I can create anything from a soft, natural look to something bold and striking. I especially love crafting wispy, textured sets that enhance your features without ever feeling harsh. I recently completed advanced training to refine my artistry even more, focusing on every client’s unique features in and around the eyes.
I genuinely care about my clients and every detail of their experience. From the moment they walk in, my goal is to make them feel relaxed, cared for, and at home. The vibe at Lashed by Vivi is dark, cozy, moody, and inviting — if you want to chat and have some girl talk, let’s catch up! If you’d rather take a lash nap, of course, go right ahead, nothing makes me happier than to know you are comfortable enough to doze off in my plush recliner while I work my magic. I even offer snacks and refreshments because I know how busy life gets, and sometimes you just need a little something to recharge.
What I’m most proud of is that so many of my clients have been with me since day one. The trust and loyalty they’ve shown over the years means everything to me. I love being part of their milestones and special moments — weddings, birthdays, big life events — and knowing they trust me to help them feel their best. I’ve built more than a business; I’ve built lasting relationships with women who truly feel at home in my space.
Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Everything I’ve built, I’ve built with my son Liam by my side. We’ve been on this journey together from the very beginning, and he’s my biggest motivation to keep going. I want him to see that with hard work, dedication, and heart, anything is possible.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that you can’t let fear stop you from doing what you love. Whether it’s starting a business, changing careers, or taking a leap of faith — it’s never too late. Believe in yourself, keep learning, and don’t be afraid to start small. Everything beautiful begins with courage and consistency.
