Today we’d like to introduce you to Yesterday’s Donuts.
Started in 2015 by Dylan Yriarte, and inspired by ’60s and ’90s music, the band has been through multiple lineup changes creating an even wider variety on music inspiration. Finally landing on members Jonathan Celiz, Kelly Galindo, and Louis Flores to create what today is Yesterday’s Donuts.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We are a Punk Rock, Rock and Roll, Ska, Skateboard whatever type of music genre you want too put us in a band. We love to create different types of music that give out a different emotion or experiences with each song. We are inspired by multiple things whether it be from a movie, art piece, or even life stories we have gone through or heard. As too why we all chose music, we just love playing and getting reactions whether good or band from people and just having fun.
For us when we play live shows, we just hope people enjoy themselves and maybe forget about any problems in the world for a minute, or even relate to something we might be saying through our lyrics and music. Also, it would be awesome to just play music for a living.
The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Geez, we run into financial issues every day. I would say especially for a band everyone has to pitch in no matter how small, and just really focus on what you need now to get you moving and spreading the word out. It takes a lot of money before you can even think about making something back to be smart and strategize. Every band is different; there is no one way or map to get you out there. But every choice you make from here on should be in making your dream move forward.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Our music can be found just about anywhere possible. iTunes, Spotify, YouTube, Google Play, Bandcamp, ETC. We also pass our free CD’s during any live shows we play, and currently, have two EP’s or Albums out at the moment.
How you can support us, honestly it’s like supporting anything or anyone just come down too see us and have a great time, and of course, be sure to check out our music. Also, a small post on your social media is the second biggest way to help us out.
