Check out Peter Lundy’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Peter Lundy.

Peter, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’m half black and half Filipino, 21 years old. Been taking portraits for about four years now.

I first started taking pictures in high school from my phone and used an app on my phone called VSCO to edit the pictures. Continued doing so just because I always loved creating things and making art. Over time I kept working and saving up until I could purchase a high end camera and eventually book shoots.

What actually got me to start taking pictures and what inspired me was this channel on Youtube called “Majestic Casual”. They play all sorts of music and add breath taking photos to each song, eventually grew a craving for a perfect picture.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I take digital portraits and edit them to look like film for a good vintage feel to it. Portraits in general are way too amazing to me. Something about creating a whole new unique story and mood to each picture just by having a different face in front of the camera.

Not sure what I want others to take away from my work but all I can say is be unique and be yourself. If you find that others are “copying” your craft just know that they can never master your own craft, only imitate.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
Success as an artist to me is finding confidence in your own work. It’s too easy to compare your work and art to other artists since there are tons of talented people out there.

Finding love has to be another important factor for success as an artist as well. If you’re trying to improve or make your art into a career you have to fall in love with what you do or else you’ll burn out in the long run but doesn’t mean you have to give up, you can always find other ways to create and share.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
You can find me on Instagram as “Luhndy” or my twitter “Peatur”. I’m currently working on my own website and planning a couple of art shows and photobooks in the near future.
