Check out Remedy By Request’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Remedy By Request.

Remedy By Request, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I grew up in Brooklyn NY my first 18 years in a section called Bedford-Stuyvesant. Home of Biggy, Jay-Z, Fabulous and a few others. I left my last year of High School right after Russell Simmons gave me my first opportunity to perform on stage, and moved to the Bay Area. Richmond CA. So I literally transitioned from one tough neighborhood in the east to another tough neighborhood in the west. My brother had just got out of the Navy and wanted me to come live with him due to moms feeling I was getting too caught up in the Brooklyn street life. I met Master P while I was in Richmond who at the time was in his early stages. We developed and light friendly relationship, and I did shows with E-40, Master P, Mac Dre, Too Short and a host of other artists from the Bay Area. I began shifting into the hustle of selling marijuana and money came with ease. I shifted my focus off my priority which was my music. When things got hectic due to various reasons, I decided to join the Navy to get away and clear my head. San Diego was an easy decision for me since I was already a Charger fan. The new surroundings gave me an opportunity to regroup and refocused on my music. Since being here, I’ve accomplished a lot. I won San Diego Hip Hop Massacre Championship Belt. I’m the Founder of the San Diego Emcee Cypher, Founder of the San Diego Rap Championship, Founder of The Female Experiment and a few other impactful events for the culture of Hip Hop. I always felt it was important for me to give back. I Just released a new project titled ” Dysrupt ” and a new Single titled ” I’m Rich.” North Park has been my home for 25 years now, and I really rep the city. I’ve managed to start a Business where I own a few products. I handcraft mobile, stationary weed boxes for cannabis consumers, I have my own signature shoe line as well, among a few other products. The end result for me is to become an Entrepreneur and a great businessman via Hip Hop.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I’m North Park’s premiere Hip Hop Artist. I’m an artist who refuses to be boxed into one particular genre of Hip Hop. I can’t allow my thoughts and ideas to be boxed in. We see and experience a lot in our lives and some we live, and some other’s live. Hip Hop is a voice and freedom of expression. As artists, we are able to express what some people may not be able to convey. We tell their story, we tell ours. So when you listen to music from Remedy By Request you will hear the diversity in my lyrics and as well as the music. I’m very meticulous about song selection. It’s important that my lyrics capture the mood of the music. Inspiration comes from some of the most simplistic things in life.

What do you think it takes to be successful as an artist?
You must have a strong work ethic and a burning desire to achieve your goals. Success for everyone is different. Building strong relationships are important. Try not to burn bridges. Listen to others and learn from mistakes and continue to grow. Don’t always take from your craft as an artist, but be able to give back to your craft as well. Being a great artist isn’t just about being able to rap.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
