Today we’d like to introduce you to Robert and Kimberly Cooley.
Robert and Kimberly, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
We are photographers from Southern California. We met in high school. Kimberly was in journalism, and Robert was in broadcasting for the school. We both have always had an interest in photography. It has been a passion and a hobby for both of us throughout our entire relationship. In November of 2012, my wife went into labor at 27 weeks, and I found myself taking a temporary residence in Phoenix. During this time I used photography to pass the time and grow my skills. Once we returned from Arizona, we started taking on side projects to make extra income. We have continued to take pictures as a hobby as well as additional projects. We have worked from Ventura County through San Diego doing many various types of events and sessions. Kimberly has the eye for family type pictures and the moments that count in weddings. Robert has a natural interest in action sports and capturing the background of the weddings and events.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do? Why? And what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We focus on capturing the moments people want to cherish and remember for a lifetime. We capture pictures with occasional graphic design projects. There are many things going on in our world and everyday life that it is easy to lose sight of what is important, and a picture helps remind and inspire us to keep positive. We believe that a memory lasts a lifetime and a picture helps remind you. We hope to capture moments and activities from a perspective the viewers would appreciate and see differently than similar pictures. We appreciate many different forms of art and enjoy sharing our perspective to others. We are inspired by our own everyday lives as well as others. We admire many types of artwork and forms of art. Our hope is to relay and inspire others to create and share their artwork as well.
How can artists connect with other artists?
Our advice is to reach out to people via social media and when you see them with a camera. It never hurts to open a conversation, ask questions or share your experiences. Everyone has a different story and sharing them helps others grow.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
People can find our work on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter under Cooley Photography @CooleyPhoto. People can show their support by liking and sharing our work via social media and reaching out for potential needs or help.
