Check out Sajda Sims ‘s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sajda Sims.

Sajda, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I am the youngest out of 7. My parents are both artist. My father had 7 kids my mom had 2 but she raised 7. I grew up at Balboa Park vending my art while my dad played the drums. I was in a lot of parade and art camps when I was younger. I went to an art junior high and high school. I sold my first painting when I was 7 years old.

I had art show since I was 12. At the age of 18 I moved to Missouri for adventure I did a few art shows out there. At the age of 21 to 24 I was popular in San Diego hillcrest and north park art scene. I was vending my art at art show, street fairs, art fest, private house parties, and bars. I work with acrylic paint. I do abstract mixed media collages. I’ve recently started doing wood craving. I slow down with vending when I had my son. Now I’m trying to sale online and through stores.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I make mixed media collages. I use acrylic paint, magazine cut outs, recycled pieces, and anything I can find. I simply just assemble the pieces together. I create to relax or to express an emotion I’m feeling. I want everyone to have their own personal connection.

How can artists connect with other artists?
Go to coffee shops and take it back over like we use to in the olden days. I’m poly hippie so I’m not lonely. I’m happy with a life full of love
