Today we’d like to introduce you to Abeer Ghosheh.
Hi Abeer, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a digital marketer for a tech company. In March, I co-founded a new company with my partner, called BuzzShot Inc. It is a social drinking mobile application launching in November aimed at building deeper connections between people, breaking the ice, and relieving social anxiety. I am an immigrant and came to the united stated when I was 17, and my partner came to the united states as a refugee. So we have both come a long way. During quarantine, we started several projects that made us more comfortable with expressing our creativity to the world and we got better at producing content and generating a following, which led us to this new idea that we’re going all-in for. We hope for the application to be born and widespread in San Diego and go from there. We intend to collaborate with a lot of local businesses and promote them to our users through our app as well.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There has been a lot we needed to learn. From software development to market research, to pricing models, to just learning how to be flexible.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
BuzzShot is a social drinking/party mobile app. It is intended to bring people together and build deeper connections. Remember the last time you were at a social gathering where everyone seemed a little awkward and didn’t know where to start the conversation? Remember the last time you were at a friend’s house drinking, wishing you could get away from chatty nancy and get to know someone else in the corner? Maybe you were at a friend’s house and everyone was bored out of their mind trying to come up with something entertaining to pass time? Maybe you were visiting a new city all by yourself and wanted to meet new people and make friends with locals? Well, thanks to BuzzShot, now there is a solution for all of that.
There are many popular drinking games out there that are played in-person where players get together, get drunk without creating any real bonds between people. BuzzShot aims to get beyond the shallow interactions between people and find things they have in common to create deeper bonds that people naturally crave. There are also a few similar drinking game apps that are available but they are played through a single player’s cell phone that gets passed around. They are no different than playing cards. BuzzShot, however, takes advantage of technologies available today to maximize the drinking game experience. I
Our brand celebrates owning who you are as a person, humour, connections, and going beyond first impressions. We want everyone to be able to share a part of themselves in a get-together, not just the super outgoing attention-seeking person in the room. There is always something more to know about somebody.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The diversity in our city, the type of people who move here, the motivation and drive that people have, the creativity, the beautiful weather, the number of people who believe in living life to the fullest, the beaches, acai bowls, the number of yoga classes available, and most importantly how much I’ve grown as a person living here. My least favorite is there is a level of shallowness and imagery that people think they need to maintain, there is pressure on younger people, and also the number of homeless people, we really want to help them but have no idea where to start!
