Today we’d like to introduce you to Alicia Amador.
Hi Alicia, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m San Diego local, Mexican American born and raised, and my journey has been worthwhile. I started my career the music industry eventually moving into festival production and events marketing. That hands-on experience led me into digital marketing, where I climbed the ladder to director-level roles at top ad agencies in Los Angeles, specializing in marketing technology, advertising operations, and client success.
When the pandemic hit, like many, it shifted things in my career. I had already started my pet care business, Cheryl’s House, in 2018, and by 2021, I had taken it fully independent. At the same time, I pursued certifications in yoga, aromatherapy, and massage therapy, which helped me not only heal personally but discover new ways to serve others.
In late 2023, I launched Amador Digital Solutions, a digital technology and marketing consulting company that helps small businesses grow using an omnichannel approach—combining digital operations, strategic marketing, and in-person brand activations to drive results and foot traffic. Just as things were shifting, I was in a life-threatening car accident in early 2024 and everything came to a pause. That life shift brought me back to my academic roots. As an Urban Studies major, a field focused on understanding the social, economic, and cultural dynamics of cities, it reminded me of my deeper purpose which is community building and to bring people together for a good cause.
Today, through my personal lifestyle blog, A. Lover’s Game, I host women business mixers and health&wellness events in San Diego and curate spaces that make people feel seen, supported, and inspired. I’m also currently in the developing stage my next wellness brand, Aroma Ali, and plan to integrate my integrative nutrition specialty to offer services that support the mind, body, and soul. I hope to expand my events to other cities and continue to grow in the women-owned business world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has not been linear or smooth. There are definitely roadblocks and learning curves I have faced and continue to face as an entrepreneur. One of the major struggles when starting a business is the financial aspect, Amador Digital is self-funded, meaning I do not have investors. When you’re first staring off, your pipeline may look nonlinear. Some months you’re completely busy, some months you’re slow, some months you’re looking at expenses that you didn’t account for. This all comes with starting a new business. However, the real challenge for me, was learning to feel comfortable with the losses and failures that happen. I am grateful for all the gainful and meaningful solutions I find along the way and being able to pivot and apply them. My advice for this like me starting off, take a step back and learn to invest in others to help you. For example, someone who can help manage sales pipelines and company expectations, who can help you with HR, budgeting, accounting, and payroll experience. This helps increase your bandwidth. Some things are not taught overnight and some things you just learn how to do through trial and error. My journey has taught me that failure is often just redirection. If you can stay consistent and keep showing up, the highs will come.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love being from San Diego because you can either be the city and center of it all, or be in the county and mountains (where I live) and enjoy the serene and calming environment. The beaches are also nice so it makes living in San Diego an amazing community to find a work/life balance. The friendly businesses, locals, and community it what’s makes San Diego the best. There aren’t many opportunities that support local women owned biz in San Diego, it is why I created my own events under A. Lover’s Game and I hope to be a leading trailblazer and grow this movement further!
