Community Highlights: Meet Alyssa Perez of Hair Goals Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alyssa Perez

Hi Alyssa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My name is Alyssa I have been a licensed cosmetologist for 10 years. I started my career as an assistant in downtown San Francisco, where I assisted and learned from some of the best hairstylist. After living in such a place with urban excitement and cultural richness years later I moved to a more suburban area. I made sure that working at a salon that met the standards of my previous one was both fulfilling and inspiring. The atmosphere was vibrant, yet professional, creating space where creativity and skill could flourish. I knew where ever I end up I wanted to create that commitment to high quality service and customer satisfaction. 6 years later I decided to get out of my comfort zone and move to San Diego, where I had no clients nor knew anyone in the industry. Moving to a new city can be exciting and challenging, especially when it comes to building a hair clientele from scratch. Establishing a strong reputation on social media and word of mouth my business grew faster than I imagined. Consistency and the familiar feeling of building one before you can approach it with confidence. I now have a small business suite in Bird Rock/ La Jolla where I am able to continue to grow and create a space with positive client experiences.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a new business in a new city my advice to a hairstylist growing a clientele in a new city is consistency , skill and patience. The initial steps with networking with social media, offering top-notch service and utilizing word of mouth.

As you know, we’re big fans of Hair Goals Studio. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I specialize in color service trends such as blondes, lived in color, and balayage. I also create custom haircuts that fits every clients needs from long hair to short hair. I also offer hair extensions that gives clients the extra confidence that they are looking for if they are looking for length or volume. I stay updated with the current hair trends and education to help clients maintain their hair by offering aftercare, recommending suitable products and providing information on how to maintain their color or style.

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
My advice for mentoring and networking would be identifying your goals on what you focus on and specialize. Seeking out to experienced stylist and attending education classes. Social media is a powerful source use it to your advantage it is your walking free platform for your business.
