Community Highlights: Meet Blair Mohr of The Organized Mommy Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blair Mohr.

Hi Blair, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi! I was a high school history teacher for 15 years, which I loved, but once COVID hit in 2020, and I was pregnant with my second boy, I decided to stay home. After a year focused on raising my boys, I started to feel really overwhelmed in my home and also was craving a creative outlet. I started an Etsy shop called The Organized Mommy Co, where I sell organizational products to moms (like diaper bag organizers and packing cubes), and started reorganizing my own home at the same time. I put my adventures in minimizing and organizing with kids on my Instagram and friends started to ask me for help in their spaces. Because I had felt such a dramatic impact from minimizing approximately 60% of our household belongings, I wanted to help other women feel that sense of peace in their home. I hosted editing challenges through my Instagram and later my website to encourage others to part with unused items. When my kids started preschool part-time, I slowly started growing the in home organizing part of my business. Now I’ve grown to a team of 3 moms, and we have organized many homes, and even some commercial spaces. My business goals are to maintain “school hours” to be there for my kids, but also help as many families as possible to feel better and less stressed in their homes.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Becoming a business owner had quite a learning curve. As a history major in college and educator, I had no knowledge of the finer points of running a business and now one with employees. I had to do a lot of learning and ask for help from other professionals. I designed my own website and still do the majority of the admin and social media marketing work in my business myself, but I know that will probably will need to change soon as the business continues to grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
The Organized Mommy Co. is a professional organizing business that specializes in coaching our clients to let go of clutter and helping to set up better systems in their spaces. We are all moms and cover editing, habit shift coaching, system set up, space planning, and can help with overall productivity. We mostly work in homes with young families, but we love the challenge of a commercial space. We also help pack, coordinate moves, and unpack and organize after a move.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Books that have helped my own journey in minimizing and that I frequently recommend to clients are Minimalista by Shira Gill, and Make Space for Happiness by Tracy McCubbin.
