TailWag Resorts was born from our deep love for dogs and a desire to provide them with a sanctuary that truly caters to their unique needs. After experiencing the limitations of traditional pet care facilities around San Diego—such as crowded kennels, limited outdoor areas, inexperienced staff, and generic, one-size-fits-all services—we recognized the need for a more personalized approach. With experienced, loving staff and a true motivation to raise the bar in dog care, we set out to create something extraordinary. Our Sharpei Mix, Coco, inspired us to build a place where every dog feels understood and cherished, giving pet parents peace of mind knowing their furry friends are in good hands.
We transformed a ranch in Escondido into TailWag Resorts, a haven offering a variety of tailored landscapes designed with a dog’s happiness in mind. Our facilities include stimulating agility courses, serene luxury lodging, a pool, a sniff safari, a Zen Room, and an enrichment center.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road to building TailWag Resorts has certainly come with its challenges, but it has also been an extraordinary journey. From the very beginning, we were determined to create something exceptional in the dog care industry—and that determination has driven us to overcome every obstacle with creativity, passion, and teamwork.
Operationally, we knew the foundation of our success would lie in building a loyal, talented, and compassionate team. We’re proud to say we’ve achieved that. Our staff shares our vision to raise the bar in dog care and make a lasting impact by transforming the lives of dogs and their families. Together, we’ve cultivated a culture of care, trust, and innovation that sets us apart.

San Diego is an incredible city, and we feel so fortunate to call it home. What we love most about San Diego is the sense of community and the shared love for animals that so many residents have. It’s a city that truly embraces the outdoors, and that aligns perfectly with our mission at TailWag Resorts. The beautiful weather and abundance of open spaces make it an ideal environment for dogs and their families to enjoy life together. Plus, San Diego is such a vibrant, welcoming place—it’s hard not to feel inspired by the energy and kindness of the people here.
As for what we like least, it’s not so much a dislike as an observation: we’ve noticed that the city’s rapid growth can sometimes create challenges for maintaining a sense of connection and access to personalized services. That’s why we’re so passionate about offering a space like TailWag Resorts, where people and their dogs can experience a deeper, more personalized level of care and attention. It’s our way of contributing to the community we love and ensuring that every pet parent feels supported.
