Community Highlights: Meet Diana Mendoza of Over thirty boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Mendoza.

Hi Diana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Over Thirty Boutique was born from a really personal place in my life. After turning thirty and becoming a mom, my style and honestly, my sense of identity started to shift. I no longer related to the fast fashion I used to wear in my twenties, but I also didn’t want to lose my sense of confidence or individuality just because life looked a little different.

I wanted clothes that felt effortless but put-together pieces that worked for busy days at the office, mom life, date nights, or just running errands, all while still feeling cute. And when I couldn’t really find a space that spoke to women like me, I decided to create it.

Over Thirty Boutique is all about embracing this stage of life. Owning your style, your story, and your growth. It’s not just about fashion; it’s about helping women feel confident, seen, and celebrated exactly where they are in life.

What started as a small dream quickly grew into something so much more because I realized that so many women were craving the same thing I was: style that fits this season of life, without compromising who we are.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road but I’ve learned that most meaningful things rarely are. When I started Over Thirty Boutique, I had a big vision and still have much more I wish to accomplish. I didn’t have a roadmap & have learned along the way. I continue to learn everyday, I taught myself how to source products, build a website, market on social media, and connect with customers in an authentic way. It was a lot of trial and error & lots of google, YouTube and TikTok.

One of the biggest challenges was balancing it all; working a 9-5, being a mom, a wife, and a business owner. There were times I questioned whether I could really do it all, especially during slow seasons or the sleepless nights trying to maximize my 24 hours. Often times, I would sleep 2 hours before I had to get ready for work as night time was the only time I really had to work on the business. Imposter syndrome definitely crept in more than once.

And then there’s the mental side of feeling like you’re putting so much of yourself into something and wondering if it’s resonating and if it’s worth it. But every time a customer tells me they feel confident in something they bought, or that they love the products they purchased from my boutique, it reminds me why I started.

The struggles have taught me how to just keep going & I have to remind myself to stay grounded in my “why,” and most importantly to give myself grace. It’s still a journey, but I’m proud of how far I’ve come and I’m excited for what’s ahead.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Over thirty boutique ?
Over Thirty Boutique is a boutique created for women who are evolving especially those of us in our 30s and beyond who still love fashion but want pieces that actually fit our lifestyle. We specialize in stylish, easy-to-wear clothing that’s elevated but approachable – think comfy sets, flattering dresses, layering pieces, and go-to staples that make you feel put together without trying too hard.

What sets us apart is who we’re speaking to. So many brands cater to either really young individuals with cut outs everywhere or super luxe shoppers with high prices, but there’s this beautiful in-between space where a lot of us live. That’s where Over Thirty comes in we’re for the woman who’s doing it all, who wants to feel confident, budgeting, and true to herself.

As a Latina-owned business, I also take pride in infusing culture, heart, and community into everything we do. I want women to feel seen and celebrated when they shop with us. It’s more than just clothes—it’s about reminding women that they’re allowed to show up for themselves, to feel beautiful, and to own their style at every stage.

What I’m most proud of is how real the connection has become. When customers DM me saying they wore a piece on a date night or felt amazing in something they bought from us—it’s everything. Seeing people reorder or go into our locations, Sd local collective or by grace and bloom, to make repurchase makes all the late nights so worth it knowing I’m creating a community,That connection is the heart of the brand, seeing others loving their pieces and creating outfits to fit their unique style.

For readers discovering us for the first time: I hope you know this is a space made with intention, for women who are growing, changing, and still showing up with style.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
One of my most cherished childhood memories is going to the mall every Tuesday with my mom. It was our special day, just the two of us. Sometimes we’d stroll through Fashion Valley or UTC Mall, window shopping and talking about life. If I was lucky, she’d let me pick out a new outfit or something small and even if we didn’t buy anything, I loved every moment of it.

There was something so comforting about being in those stores, flipping through the racks, trying things on. I remember how excited I’d get over a cute top or a fun pair of shoes. It wasn’t just shopping, it was a bonding experience, a little escape, and one of the ways I learned to express myself.

Looking back, I think that’s where my love for fashion really began. Not just the clothes, but the way it made me feel—confident, inspired, and connected. That feeling lives in Over Thirty Boutique today.
