Community Highlights: Meet Eyga Mojus of San Diego Swim Week

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eyga Mojus.

Hi Eyga, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Five years ago, I launched San Diego Swim Week with a vision to celebrate the creative pulse of California’s swimwear culture — a platform where designers, models, and brands could shine against the backdrop of our beautiful coastline. What began as a small, local show quickly grew into a recognized fashion event, uniting a community of artists who share a passion for innovation, sustainability, and authentic expression.
Over the years, San Diego Swim Week has evolved into more than just a runway; it’s become a movement that champions diversity, empowers emerging talent, and celebrates confidence in every form. Seeing the growth, the talent, and the energy that have emerged from our community continues to inspire me to dream even bigger.
Before my success in swim week productions, I spent three years producing state pageants in California and Nevada, where I honed my expertise in event production, talent development, and community engagement. As a former model and Miss Grand South Sudan, I founded and directed Miss Mojus Productions and produced shows for Miss Grand USA and Miss Supranational USA in California and Nevada — earning recognition as Best State Director and guiding titleholders to both national and international wins. During this time, I also received the Presidential Award for my contributions to state pageant productions in collaboration with the Miss USA team.
Beyond fashion, I am deeply committed to community impact. I have partnered with the NAACP on fundraising initiatives for first-generation college students and have been honored with the Phenomenal Woman Award from the NAACP, as well as recognition from Senator Cory Booker.
Originally from Sudan, now South Sudan, my journey from international pageantry to becoming a celebrated U.S. fashion show producer reflects my resilience, vision, and dedication to creating spaces that uplift others through creativity, culture, and connection.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but every challenge has shaped the journey. In the early years, building San Diego Swim Week from the ground up meant learning everything by doing — from production and branding to managing teams, venues, and designers. There were moments of uncertainty, limited resources, and plenty of sleepless nights, but each year brought new lessons and growth.
We faced obstacles like finding the right partnerships, creating consistent support for emerging designers, and proving that a swim-focused fashion week could thrive outside the traditional fashion capitals. But with time, persistence, and an incredible community behind us, we turned those challenges into opportunities.

We’ve been impressed with San Diego Swim Week , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
San Diego Swim Week is California’s premier swimwear and resort wear fashion platform — a celebration of creativity, confidence, and coastal culture. We specialize in producing high-end runway experiences that spotlight both emerging and established designers from around the world, giving them a stage to showcase their collections in a professional, energetic, and inclusive environment.
What sets San Diego Swim Week apart is our community-driven approach. We’re more than just a fashion event — we’re a movement built on collaboration, empowerment, and innovation. Our shows highlight body diversity, sustainability, and individuality, helping redefine what modern swimwear fashion looks like.
Over the past five years, our productions have drawn an impressive mix of celebrities, influencers, and media personalities — including cast members from Temptation Island, The Bachelor/Bachelorette, as well as Miss USA, Fox News producers, and members of Selling Orange County. We also collaborate with top California law firms, including Attorney King Aminpour, local businesses, and strategic advisors to elevate each event and deliver an industry-leading experience.
We’re most proud of how San Diego Swim Week has evolved — from a local showcase to a nationally recognized destination for creativity and connection. Each season, we raise the bar while staying true to our mission: to empower designers, models, and brands through fashion, culture, and community.
For readers who may not know us yet — San Diego Swim Week is where fashion meets lifestyle. It’s where the beach becomes the runway, where confidence meets creativity, and where every designer has the opportunity to make waves in the fashion world.

Alright, so to wrap up, is there anything else you’d like to share with us?
Yes! We’re so excited to share that our upcoming San Diego Swim Week is scheduled for August 2–9, 2026, and it’s shaping up to be our most dynamic season yet.
We’re also thrilled to reintroduce Palm Springs Swim Show, officially debuting to the public in April 2 2026. We first unveiled this exciting new concept during San Diego Swim Week 2025’s fashion show — and now, we’re bringing it to life as a full-scale destination event that captures the spirit and sophistication of the desert.
Palm Springs Swim Show is your oasis within the desert — a sun-drenched stage, a poolside runway, and a shimmering evening where luxury hums beneath the heat and nostalgia dances in the golden hour light. It’s not just a destination; it’s a mood, a moment, a memory. Where the pool is the runway, the sun is our spotlight, and swimwear is always in season.
This next chapter is about bringing the essence of California swim culture inland — blending the laid-back coastal vibe of San Diego Swim Week with the timeless glamour and modern artistry of Palm Springs. It’s a celebration of style, community, and the creative spirit that started it all.
Be part of the excitement! Registration is officially open for designers, sponsors, vendors, buyers, models, local businesses, and media partners for both events. Please note that designer slots for the Palm Springs Swim Show are limited. For participation details or inquiries, email info@sandiegoswimweek.com or info@palmspringsswimshow.com.
