Community Highlights: Meet Geeta of Wax & Facial Center

Today we’d like to introduce you to Geeta.

Hi Geeta , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Geeta, a licensed esthetician and the founder of Wax & Facial Center in San Diego. I specialize in waxing, facials and threading, and I’ve built my business around one simple idea: helping people feel more confident and beautiful in their own skin.

My journey into this field started very early — back when I was just a 6th grader in India. I used to spend time with my aunt, who owned a beauty business. I still remember the first time I applied a waxing strip on her. It might sound funny, but in that moment, I felt something spark inside me — I truly fell in love with waxing. For me, it’s not just a beauty service; it’s a form of therapy. That feeling has stayed with me ever since.

Like many people, I took a different path first. I worked for Singapore Airlines for nearly 8 years, and after getting married, I moved to the U.S. That’s when I finally had the chance to follow my dream. It wasn’t easy — English was my second language, and I had no idea where to begin. But with the support of my husband and some amazing professors and classmates, I enrolled in City College Downtown and became a licensed esthetician.

Once I got my license, I worked at European Wax Center for 6 months — my dream job at the time. But I missed time with my children, and my older son once said, “Mom, you don’t have time for me anymore.” That was the turning point. I left the job and decided to start my own business — even though I was scared. I renovated a room in my house and launched Wax & Facial Center in September 2024.

Now, I run my business from home, but I’ve created a space that feels professional, welcoming, and peaceful. What sets me apart is the personal connection I build with every client. I take my time, I listen, I care — and many of my clients say it feels more like visiting a friend than just getting a service. I believe that beauty is not only about appearance — it’s also about how someone feels when they leave my chair.

I help clients with sensitive skin, body hair concerns, dryness, and self-confidence. Whether it’s a first-time threading session or a regular Brazilian wax, I always make sure they feel safe, understood, and comfortable.

I’m most proud of how far I’ve come with any funding — from being unsure of my English, to now running a successful small business with happy, returning clients and great reviews. Most of my clients find me through word-of-mouth or Google reviews, and that makes me feel like I’ve really earned their trust.

To anyone reading this: Wax & Facial Center is not just about beauty — it’s about comfort, care, trust, personal connection and building confidence. Whether it’s your first time getting waxed or you’re just looking for a friendly face who truly cares about your skin, I’m here for you.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but every challenge taught me something valuable. When I first moved to the U.S., my biggest struggle was language. English wasn’t my first language, and that made me nervous about studying, talking to clients, or even asking questions in class when I was pursuing my esthetician license.

There were moments when I doubted myself — especially when I failed one of my first exams. But I refused to give up. My teachers, classmates, and husband supported me so much, and I studied day and night until I passed with full marks. That experience made me stronger and taught me that hard work always wins.

Starting my own business was another challenge. I began in a small room at my home and renovated it into a professional studio. I didn’t know if anyone would come at first, but slowly clients started finding me — and they kept coming back. Every time a client tells me they feel confident and beautiful after a facial or waxing session, I know all those struggles were worth it.

The journey wasn’t easy, but it made me who I am today — confident, independent, and grateful for every client who trusts me.

We’ve been impressed with Wax & Facial Center , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business, Wax & Facial Center, is all about helping people feel confident and beautiful in their own skin. I specialize in facials, waxing, and threading — services that not only enhance appearance but also provide relaxation and self-care.

What truly sets my business apart is the personal connection I build with every client. I treat each person who walks in like a friend, not just a customer. I take time to understand their skin type, their comfort level, and their goals so that every session feels personalized and caring. Many of my clients tell me that coming to me feels like therapy — a safe, relaxing, and happy space.

I’m most proud of how far my brand has come in such a short time. I started Wax & Facial Center in September 2024 from a small studio in my home, and within months, I had a steady base of loyal clients and wonderful reviews on Google. Every review, every returning client, and every smile reminds me why I love what I do.

My goal is simple — to make every client leave feeling more confident, relaxed, and radiant than when they came in. At Wax & Facial Center, beauty isn’t just about the outside — it’s about helping people feel good inside too.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Something that surprises most people is that English is my second language, and when I first came to the U.S., I was very shy and nervous to speak. I had a big dream of becoming a licensed esthetician, but I struggled a lot with communication and confidence. During my esthetician course, I used to ask the same question again and again because I wanted to make sure, I understood everything — and thankfully, my teachers and classmates were always patient and supportive.

Many of my clients today tell me I seem so confident and comfortable, but behind that confidence is a lot of hard work, courage, and determination. I pushed through my fear, improved my language skills, and built a business from scratch doing what I truly love — helping people feel beautiful and confident.

It’s a reminder that no matter where you start, if you have passion and persistence, you can achieve anything you dream of.
