Community Highlights: Meet Heather Fleming of Sharelooms, Inc.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Fleming.

Hi Heather, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sharelooms started in 2005 at a crossroads in my life, right after my Grandpa passed and I was just starting my own family. I remember calling to check in on my grandma after he passed, and his voice was still on the answering machine. Hearing his voice after he was gone was incredibly powerful. It reminded me how important it is to hold onto the little things: voices, photos, videos, the pieces of family history that keep our loved ones close even when they are not here anymore. That moment became the spark for Sharelooms.

I grew up in a family that ran their own business, so I always knew I wanted to do the same. For me it was not just about building a company but creating something that would let me be present with my kids while also building a legacy. Sharelooms grew out of that, a way to honor the past, celebrate the present, and make sure our stories last for future generations.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t always been a smooth road. Being both a mom and a business owner can be very challenging. We have three boys who are all active in sports, and I love being involved in our community as well. Striking a balance between family life and running a business is really an art, and it’s something I am constantly working on.

There have been seasons where I felt stretched thin, and moments where the business had to grow slowly because family needed to come first. But in the end, those choices are what shaped Sharelooms into what it is today. The challenges taught me how to be more intentional, more present, and more creative with my time.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Sharelooms, our mission is simple: to help families preserve and share their stories for future generations. Our legacy projects focus on capturing the voices and memories of family patriarchs and matriarchs through storytelling, video production, photo scanning and restoration, video transfer, and custom projects like coffee table books and legacy films. These become heirlooms that keep a family’s history alive.

We are also excited to be expanding into family travel with Travel.Sharelooms.com, where we’ll share guides and resources to help families create new memories together. Because at Sharelooms, it has always been about both preserving the past and celebrating the moments we are living right now.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success is found in the happiness of each family we work with. The projects we take on are so meaningful, often capturing the life and legacy of a loved one. When a family tells us through tears how much it means to see their memories preserved and their loved one’s stories honored, that is true success. Every project matters, and every family’s story is worth cherishing.
