Community Highlights: Meet Immanuel Ontiveros of Lord Wallington

Today we’d like to introduce you to Immanuel Ontiveros.

Hi Immanuel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2012 my wife Anda (@house_of_andaloo) gave me the opportunity to quit my day job and pursue entrepreneurship full time. At the time, the men’s haberdashery style was in, so we launched a line of ties, pocket squares, and grooming products all of which we made in house. We rode that wave for a few years and had our products in locations across the country in menswear stores and barbershops and had graduated to having our products made by a small manufacturer. As trends in menswear began to shift to a more casual style, the demand for ties and bow ties dropped and it was time to shift and rebrand. Being the entrepreneur I am, I noticed more high-rise buildings going up in the downtown San Diego area, so we decided to spin the brand to a higher end home cleaning service. Butler by Lord Wallington was born. We focused on high end buildings in the area and provided a service that was more than other “house cleaning” services. We also provided handyman services, running errands, and dog walking to name a few. This quickly grew in popularity in the downtown San Diego area and grew to serve La Jolla, Del Mar, and Rancho Santa Fe. As the demand grew it was time to take the Butler by Lord Wallington brand to the next level in large estate management. With each new client the homes seemed to get larger and larger.

Eventually after a few years, we shifted once again to focus on managing large estates from 10-30 thousand square feet. We manage everything from vendors to housekeeping and everything a home of this size needs to run smoothly and last for years to come. Most recently we launched the Butler Book by Lord Wallington, an in-depth easy to use house workbook that we have used from the smallest lofts to the largest estates to organize and maintain the properties.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Changes in the market have been a challenge. In the beginning, men’s accessories were flying off the shelves, but as trends changed to more causal style, they stopped selling as much. In the home management service, if an individual were to lose a job, the support they need for the house is the first to go because it is no longer needed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
As a US Navy Veteran, I have been able to bring the attention to detail that I learned in the service to my business and provide the highest level of home service in the industry managing homes and estates upwards of 30 thousand square feet. Lord Wallington has become familiar name locally with our branded vehicles and excellent service. I am most proud of the Butler Book by Lord Wallington and how it is able to help not just our current clients, but anyone with a home that needs organizing and maintaining.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Advise for anyone starting their own business, be ready to shift at any given moment. The market will speak and if you’re not able to adjust accordingly, then it will be an uphill battle.
